If it doesn’t move, seal or stop something I think Britpart are ok.

Sorry but being able stop is more of a priority that getting something through an mot. If you know the right mot people it will get through anyway, brakes is one thing I will never buy Britpart. It may be unfair as they may well have taken on board the complaints they’ve no doubt had, but being able to stop is something I’d not take a chance on for the sake of the mot. Nothing against dodgy mot’s on paper, but I do like to verbally hear what is wrong so it can be sorted out soon.

I had a waxstat thermostat in a britpart blue bag from craddocks not so long ago, got through three of their water pumps in quick succession though

I ordered about £500 worth of parts from DLS last year and I think about half of it was blue bags. I was going to send it all back but the bloke said he’d have rung me if he thought there’d have been a problem with any of the Britpart stuff as they know what’s ok and not ok.

I mean the discs and pads work just fine. Not just for MOT.

I thought a positive thread would be better. At least people could look up on here whether a part they need is any good, rather than losing the blue box lottery and ranting about it. If I were at Britpart I would much prefer this.

bp stuff does stop you same as any other std parts from general parts suppliers,bearmach allmakes etc all buy from the same places

I've had britpart shocks on my D2 since October '16. Absolutely faultless, I'd buy them again. No rust, seeping oil. Even the bushes still look okay, no play in them.
They've got a big 'britpart genuine parts' label on them, dunno if that means anything.
Got them from my local Indy land rover parts supplier. He said he'd never had any returns or problems with their standard shocks.
I've said it before on here, if you've got 3 price options on a part and short on cash, go for the middle one. Usually pretty safe.

Britpart injector loom fitted round about the same time as well. No issues whatsoever

Oh sorry you gave the impression if it wasn’t for the mot you’d have genuine.

i have got a Britpart water temp housing which has been ok, and their belts have been ok too. Maybe it’s just a reputation thing

I bought my landy at a knock down price as it both swivels were leaking, rear calipers were semi seized, new bearings needed all round and repairs to chassis.

There is absolutely no way id of been able to afford to replace everything with genuine (nor did I have the desire to). I've rebuild both axles, all brake discs, rear calipers, pads, swivels, seals, ball joints using Britpart parts, and even ordered my new chassis through them as waiting time was reduced. I will say I only use Timken bearings though.

I use fram filters for the services just because the closest motor factors supply them. I use the Landy daily lugging a trailer around etc and it performs faultlessly. Been running the Britpart stuff for 3 years with no issues to report.

You were doing alright up to that point. Now we don't even recon you've got a Landie let alone use BritPart parts

I knew id blown it writing that, everyone always says i never know when to stop!!

I like to live in the fast lane so when I rebuilt my 200 TDI I used britpart pistons after a rebore.
The price was unbelievably cheap but I forget how much, I googled the part number and island 4x4 were way cheaper than the rest.
Been in 4 yrs now roughly, no issues

Sold my Freelander about ten years ago, so don't visit this site very often now. Nice to see you haven't lost your sense of humour.

Sorry for your loss.

Now a somewhat 'old' thread but, for me starting back in to Defender ownership, an excellent attempt to try and highlight the positives around any BP products and one I found very useful. Useful, despite the comedians, die-hards, bereaved, over-my-dead-body and you're-going-to-hell-in-a BP-handcart brigade Love you all!
