I think I'm going to brace it and stick it on eBay and gumtree
eBay as a fixed price advert rather than an auction? I'm thinking that way it stops a lot of people bidding them not buying at end of auction?
I have sold a couple of cars on eBay before with no real problems but defenders are a bit different I know
EBay you can do classified or auction. Auction might work in your favour if you get 2 or more interested parties. Big if though

Both are the same cost and duration for cars if I remember rightly, and people will come along to view either way, if there is no time limit on selling it (3+ months) then i'd do a classified and then sit tight til you get the money you want.

Sums the auction method up - but if you're less worried about getting top dosh it can be faster.

I'm not in a rush to sell, trouble is if it doesn't sell straight away I will end up changing my mind and keeping it!! I do love it but I've got to let hu head rule my heart unfortinatley

If there is the slightest possibility that you could afford to not sell the motor then I would put it on eBay overpriced (even more than the ones that are on there!) and then tell the mrs it's not selling, or if someone does buy it even better.

One last quick question ,would you hide the reg plate in advert or does it not matter ?
I notice some do some don't?

You'll get told both yes and no. Same as on here. Personally me number plate is on show 24/7 on the front AND back of me motor everywhere I go so it's not a concern to me.

Hiding it just means the first question you will get from anyone who is vaguely serious is "what is the reg" so they can then do the car checks, write off, HPI, past mots, insurance quotes etc.

There's a wealth of knowledge and experience on here ,many thanks guys !!
Some brilliant ,informative replys ,with well explained reasons behind each answer.exactly how a forum should be
Thanks again

I like to hide the number plate in an advert. My thinking is (as above), anyone serious will ask for it to do their checks. Trust your gut reaction if you're happy to oblige them...
Secondly, having your number plate cloned is serious agro. Drive offs at petrol stations, speeding tickets and much worse will be coming your way if a member of the underclass decides to help himself. Sure, your reg is freely on display on the vehicle but why make it easier for a potential crim to get the details without even leaving the comfort of his sofa?!

Well she's finally up for sale.will miss her when she's gone !!
Wish I could keep it but I need a bigger van now really and can't afford 2 vehicles

Whenever my missus suggests selling my landy to fund something of benefit to her and me, I say, OK, let's start by selling your jewellery first.

Col
100%. I had that with my ex, "why don't you sell one of your guitars? use the money for a holiday"

Yeah like **** would I. Sell one of your 32 pairs of shoes or one of your Barbour jackets. That's never a thought to cross the mind.

@steven walker

It's a real shame, however good luck in selling her, i hope you manage to get someone who you get the impression will love her like you did.
