Yesterday randomly my 200 didn't want to start it just turned over for 5 seconds before starting....this morning it's just turning and turning...it did splutter once showing it might start but it didn't....any guesses????

Looking closer at the mechanical pump it is wet...and the little lever is really limp and easy to push up and down...has that gone so you think?

if theres good battery power and youre sure the timing belt has not snapped, you can check this by removing oil filler cap and turn engine over with socket and see if rockers move ,
then crack open one or two of the injector pipes to see if any diesel coming through .

The belt was changed 2 weeks ago so it's not that....I have been jiggling the fuel cut off on the injection pump and it splutters for a second and then just keeps turning.....it's been perfect but last night as I say it turned a bit then spluttered into life but today just turns and turns and with an immediate splutter if I stop and jiggle that wire and start to turn it over again

cut the terminal off put a new one on and make sure the stop solenoid tab is not loose i did not know you fiddled with the stop solenoid wire i usually leave it well alone

So I took that pipe of and turned it over...no suction at all....( side question ) there should be something right? Even if the solinoid is faulty? Just trying to tick things off the list...I thought there would still be something

Also I took this off to see if fuel came out.... and a small drip came up out the engine?!?! I thought it's meant to come down the pipe???

Turn the engine over briefly with one of the injection pipes loosened - cover it with a rag. A good amount of fuel should .come out. Let us know what happens.

So I see this online and when I turn it over IF diesel comes out the lift pump is ok....if it DONT then it's ****ed....nothing came out mine lol

As above - if the fuel filter is full, then your lift pump is behaving - it it's not full, then it's time for a new lift pump.

Banbury...iv spoke to the bloke I got it from ( work ) he's had it 12 years and sat for a year and half before I got it...he said he never changed it....might just do it anyway it's £35 for a Delphi one...atleast it's done

I called up the LR specialist and they said yeah we have one in the shelf it’s a Brit part one.....I said forget it...I hear a lot of there stuff is crap....so I was shocked this company used them as there a fortune to get your car fixed by them...iv got a Delphi one coming Monday so I’ll let you know how it goes

Check the fuel leak off pipes. If they are leaking or loose then air gets in and it causes problems starting for the first time each morning.
