I have picked up some steel Weller wheels to put on the defender, but I have found that the centre hole is larger than the hub:

I thought all defender & D1 wheels were the same, maybe not?

Can I just add some alloy spigot rings like these on eBay?
(link just an example, haven't measured what exact size I'd need)

They look like my modulars, they are not centered by the hub but instead by the conical wheel nuts, as neilly says

Early 110s and 90s had a larger centre to the front hub. I've just had the opposite problem making sure I had the larger hole with my new alloys. You can't fit the later wheels on the early hubs without spacers. Or some doubtful wheel surgery.

Who told you this?

This forum informed me of the difference, just type in "110 early hub" in the search and all will be revealed...
+ Last week the tyre place fitted my new tyres to the wrong wheels which would not fit...( I was having a free coffee at the time.
