Have already had a search but haven't spotted an answer.....

Had the front grill off my Disco TD5 this morning for something else and spotted a pair of unused connectors behind it, apparently a 2 pin socket with round cross section, are these for aux lights mounted above the bumper in addition to the fogs in the lower bumper? if so how can I make use of them?

Without seeing the offending sockets, it's impossible to say what they're for, but I can say that the official Land Rover method of installing spot/driving lamps is complicated, expensive and unreliable. You'll also need a compatible code reader to set the circuit in the BCU.

Your best bet would be to disregard those sockets completely and fasten them well out of the way with some cable ties. Then install your own relay triggered from the high beam wiring to power a pair of lamps. There are plenty of circuits and advice both here on the forum and elsewhere on the web.

Thanks, they're part of the loom and clipped to the inside of the front panel. The only things I can think might go there are fog lights or for powering electric fans if I had air con, (assuming air con models have supplementary leccy fans like my P38.

Wiring a another set of lights in old school is no problem, was keen to make use of existing wiring were possible tho so as not to fill the engine bay with wires, it's going to be busy enough with a second battery, Anderson plug for jump leads and a winch!

Have a look through rave , all the connections should be in there and you may find the one you need.

Cheers

I was working on the assumption that A/C was a more popular option than aux lights & they were indeed for the fans, LR started adding the optional wiring into the looms with later 300Tdi models as to simplify loom orders with not so popular options getting complete additional looms to compliment original loom.

I asked about switches etc, as I wondered if maybe there had been an A bar with lights that had been removed in the past but switches left in the cab as I found on a car that had had a replacement front bumper but without the front fogs in it and the plugs filled with vaseline, a placcy bag an a cable tie secured it out the way, all I had to do was cut out the blanks and fit new front fogs & job done.

I would go with Brian here and just fit new wiring for any future light upgrades.
