Hi, my charge light came on today, it goes dim when I rev it , and goes off if I put the lights on

check the voltage with engine running at one of the big brown wires on rear of alt

Belt is OK , I'll dig my meter out and check the voltage. Strange how the charge light goes out when I put the lights on .

Alternators regulator may be fubar.

Quick update , clean connections on alternator , check volts on battery its showing 14.5 v , so its charging , to dark to get the meter on the back of the alternator .

Managed to get the meter on the back of the alternator this morning showing 14+ volts (James)

the votage is correct but If the diode pack is going that could be part AC not DC. If you tunr a lot of load on inc headlights do they get brighter when you rev the engine?

Right put lights, heater and wipers on and the lights are not getting brighter, so ac side keput yes
