I see. Mine has something like these bolted just above where the rear roll bar goes.

Cheers

thanks Gmacz when i get there i will have a good look at the chassis at 1500 pounds to replace plus many hours to swap over thats not something i want to take on after forking out 6k+ to get it in the first place.

1500 for a new chassis? Where from? I thought they were a whole lot more than that.

any recommendations on a land rover specialist that i could get to have a look at it near Swaffham?

There is one in Bury St Edmunds and another in Thetford, cant remember the names but a quick google should pull them up.
I would be worried about something like that, cummins gearbox? TD5 300? None of that makes sense.

Xenon headlights; Rear seat belts; 4-Wheel Drive; CD Player; Tow Bar; Auxiliary heating; Alloy Wheels; V5 Registration Document; Parking Sensors; Catalytic Converter

TD5 CAB? whats that? Cummings gearbox? whats that then? TD5 300 engine? Is it a TD5 or a 300, it cant be both, Jacking Kit, so it has a jack? Xenon head lights, cant see em, and if they are in there they are illegal, parking sensors? Really? Where? Catalytic Converter, on a 1991? I understand pre 2003 didn't have them I also understand td5's were introduced in 1999 so this didn't even have a td5, so is it a 300? Is it a 300 with a td5 engine? whats going on ? Why is my writing brown?

Oh , and before I forget, 7K and they cant fit a reverse lamp lens? Or fit a door card, or clean the dash board? What else haven't they done? Is it a sales ploy to give you something to moan about and bring the price down a couple of hundred quid while all the while the things actually big time buggered in more ways than one?

Where are those prices from 42?

2124 quid delivered from Richards, that's a lot of Wonga, I don't think the prices will come down unless demand drops, there isn't enough competition.

Thank you all for the replies.
i did think that the jates looked to be in the wrong place if they where for recoveries, im very cautious with recoveries as iv had a recovery hook lodge itself about 6" to the left of my head because some twit used the standard bumper bolts instead of longer high tensile ones (was only about 3 mm of thread holding it on)
cost the owned a fair bit to fix the damage and a wobbly jaw for a few days.
i received a reply from the yard through the night (my night anyways) that went as follows
"it is what it is..we know nothing about defenders..feel free to inspect at any time"
i had already gathered that they knew even less than me about defenders but come on. coupled with the info you have all dug up and the reviews of the company and there lack of effort to try and even answer my questions ill give this one a miss.

thanks again your all bloody legends?
dave
