I currently have a 2000 model P38A 4.6 V8 Autobiography which, I will have had for 10 years next March. In those 10 years, other than an issue with the MAF sensor, I've had genuine, trouble free motoring. Sadly, this year it has become an incredibly stroppy teenager!

Dancing central locking ( the aerial has been disconnected for flat battery issues) Roof lining sagging, bulbs constantly blowing (especially headlights) Windows opening of their own accord while driving but the latest is the suspension.

Never had an issue with the EAS before, ever! Last MOT was advised f/o/s airbag perished so decided to replace them all & the shocks too. Since then I've had trouble keeping it up (the car, not....) I have had the unlock suit from RSW Solutions since I bought the car and no errors have showed up. I've also had my friend check with his OBDII reader and only issue that found was 'pressure switch low'.

The car is currently inhibited to its highest setting but the front end has dropped, funnily enough the f/o/s is sitting even lower. if the car is parked in any other setting, as soon as you close the door the valve block ticks away letting all the air out to try and level itself out then it'll take about an hour for the pressure to build back up again. I've been around (as much as I can without a lift) with a bottle of soap solution and can't find any obvious leaks (only the one my neighbour dropped while unloading her shopping)

Could this be a faulty pressure switch, dodgy height sensor (the f/o/s does show 10mm lower than the opposite corner on the EAS suit) but they're so rusty, without getting the car in the air there's not much I can do.

Any ideas please guys would be wonderful, thank you in advance

For starters if its taking an hour to get pressure back up I'd have a look at the compressor as a first step, mine dumped itself onto the bump stops but nanocom didnt come up any faults. Checked compressor and the piston ring and cyclinder were just plain old worn out, x8r do repair kits and have instructional videos on their web site to see what to do

Thank you for your fast reply Nickpen! I'm guessing in this vehicles 17 years, the valve block has never been serviced. I do already have an 'O' ring replacement set and have replaced all the rings to the side of the valve block for the pipes as there was a leak to the dryer. I'm guessing I'll have to remove the valve block and give it a good service (new 'O' rings, not....) I'm wondering whether a reconditioned unit may be more beneficial and convenient right now than having mine out for a time.

I'm guessing it overheard me talking about part exchanging it earlier in the year....They do have feelings you know ;)

Also see @kurtjohnson10 about a valve block if you don't want to rebuild yours
if its been going down ever since the bags were done check the pipes at the bags you more often than not have to cut a bit of the end chamfer with pencil sharpener and refit then when there is pressure at the bags push them in a bit more.

There doesn't appear to be any leaks at the airbag connections but, I shall certainly look in to checking the end of the pipe at the bag end. Can't hurt. Was my fear though that the pump was 'tired' It's currently sat out side my house with it's arse in the air and front end on the deck :(

I'd never part-ex it. I've seen the prices these things are going for recently & to be honest, not sure I could part with it. Such a stunning truck.... Even if it is a stroppy teenager

Thats good to know, those few little problems are just that and can be easily fixed its just keeping on top of things, get a valve box from Kurt an
Head liner kit from martrim and your good to go

We have a 2000 Vogue 4.6, and one problem in the cold weather is moisture in the valves freezing.
I've got a desiccator kit and a set of O-rings and diaphragm for the valve block. In fact I have two spare valve blocks so I can recon one out of the car and swap it over fairly quickly.
A spare compressor came with the car and I have a new seal and liner to go in that, so hopefully we should be good for a few years.

Peter
