It's not that bad. The lest time I whant Peak District the PAS box lost all its fluid. It's just little bits now and then. I done all the modifications I want to do so it's time for a new project.

Thanks 300bhp/ton
So do I just need to put in eBay Defender 1.4:1 transfer box to get my gearing back. Or do I need the the diff as well. I'm ok with low range on my D1 with 33" tyres.
Thanks
A transfer box swap only alters high range. They all have the same low range. If you are happy with the crawl speed with 33’s and just want it more peppy on the road. The the transfer box is the easiest and cheapest swap.

Lots of Defender boys always are after the 1.2 Disco transfer box anyway.

With 33’s it isn’t 100% necessary to change the gearing but the stock Disco 1.2:1 transfer box does mean super tall gearing with 33’s. Ie 5th gear won’t really be usable until about 50mph.

Keeping the stock transfer box and going for 4.1:1 diffs will give similar result in high range and on road. But also improve your crawl speed in low range. The only thing to consider here is. Stock diffs are pretty weak. So if you are planning on upgrading them. It might only cost a fraction more to change the ratio.

Something else to consider. I’d rather go for flexy suspension rather than total height. And an addition of ATB or locking diffs in the axles will massively elevate the vehicles off road potential. With the TCS the D2 has I’d go ATB rather than full locker unless rock crawling was the main hobby. The ATB’s will compliment the TCS and you’ll end up with much better steering control on slippery surfaces and very similar levels of traction to full lockers.

What he said. ;)

It sounds like a defender transfer box is the way to go and then I will get diff lock and I can sell my old one as a added bonus.
I was thinking about getting limited slip diff. I assume that's the same ATB?

What do you mean about flex suspensions. Will I still get the 2" lift that I will need for the 33"
Thanks Elliot

I hoping to buy my suspension today so I will get it be the weekend as it is stuck in the garage with collapsed rear suspension.
This is what I'm thinking of getting. It looks a good make.

It said it will only give me a 25-35mm lift but if the 33" tyres don't fit after the 2" body lift I can put spacers to fine tune it.
I have seen some cheaper ones at 2" but I want something that is going to last.

Can anyone suggest any better alternatives or do you think this is the best way to go
Thanks a lot for all you'r help Elliot

Not even started and there's a problem.
john craddock rang today and said they are not in stock and are on back order. They are trying to sell me the TF230 Terrafirma kit which is only £354 which is £366 cheaper than ome. So now I am thinking it's a cheap make and not going to last.

Dose anyone know how reliable they are. The disco is going to be very heavy with the cage, 2 winches and all the gear in the back. They don't tell you the load ratings just that they are heavy.

Try Flatdog

I'm skint so don't use OME, I use cheap Pro-Comp shocks and Bearmach springs ... OME is a quality brand though and very well recommended for all-round and heavy duty expedition type use.

Thanks all I will have a look. It might be that I need to get them individually instead of a kit.
I will let u know how I get on.

Right I think I have decided what I'm going to get. I can't see a mid range spring being any different that a OME spring so I am going for Terrafirma springs as they do a more heavy duty version. I'm keeping the shokes OME.

Terrafirma Front Springs 2 Inch ( 50mm ) Lift Discovery 2 - Heavy Load 100kg
TF052

Terrafirma Rear Springs 2 Inch ( 50mm ) Lift 90/D1/D2/RRC - Heavy Load 300kg
TF027 V

A full set of Old Man Emu Heavy Duty Nitrocharger Sport shocks and OME steering damper at 0-40mm lift

Air to spring conversion kit.

I will get the bump stops and brake lines later.

Just a update and a thank you for all your help.
I got the rear terrafirma spring Friday and put them on this weekend. It looks a bit weird with the back jacked up and not the front. And when I go over a speed hump the shocks fully exstend and bang. It's only temporary I'll be doing the proper suspension lift In the next month or 2.
Might go with 5.5" extra travel OME. It's a lot more work but I think it would be worth it and I don't think it will affect the reliability having extra suspension travel. And when I do go on a long distance journey I can get a spare pair of pro comp 5.5" shocks as spares.

Ow and my discovery 1 is for sale if any one is interested.
