hi all new to this car suffering from loss of power is it possible the intercooler radiator could be blocked and would this cause power loss many thanx

Anything is possible.
I would suggest a bit more information on the history of the problem might help.
In other words, has it just suddenly lost power, is it weak across the range or just at low/high revs. Is it changing gear OK?
Have you had any diagnostics on it.
Just asking what could cause a loss of power doesn't really give us a lot to go on!

I have only had it two weeks bought it with the problem its slow pulling away and the revs can hit 2500 b4 it changes gear from first to second seems slower when it warms up will struggle climbing up hill hot or cold. on a straight run in second the kickdown is there but looses power again as soon as you lift off the peddle fitted a new map, water temp sensor, air filter, diesel filter and removed the egr and blanked it off had diagnostics done it at jlr it sowed fault codes 27 29 30 tried to find what these were but no luck oh and also the previous owner had work done on the ignition so no longer needs the fobs hope this helps

You say MAP sensor was changed - I assume you mean the little sensor mounted on the fuel filter - this is indeed the MAP sensor.

I ask as lack of power can be down to the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor). This is connected to the underside ofhte intake manifold using a thin pipe - at times, this pipe splits, gums up or falls off. Itake it when the MAP sensor was replaced the pipe was checked for blockages or splits and is correctly fitted at both ends?

A weak in tank pump can cause lack of power, but also you would get poor starting when the tank level gets below 1/4 of a tank or so.

The diesel uses two temp sensors from memory, and you need to change the right one, one is green and one is brown - trouble is I can't remember which one needs to be changed that feeds the engine temp to the ECU....a brief search on here will gives results as it was only discussed a week or so ago....

From the other thread, 2.5 DSA Auto screeming to 4000rpm before changing gear.
Green sensor fitted between no 4&5 part no stc2299

thanks for that sorry I meant the air flow not the map also the temp sensor I changed was the green one have also ordered the map sensor just have not received it yet it has 3/4 of a tank of diesel in it and the pump is quiet when I have listened down the filler cap with the ignition on. there is no smoke at all when driving and no noises at all except a slight whine from a wheel bearing many thanx for your help

thanx for your reply yes you are right it is the green one changed it yesterday the land rover specialists by me love me I'm in there that often they now my car reg without even telling them it many thanx again

Are you sure it is ACTUALLY down on power. At the risk of offending the oil burning owners on here, it's not going to be a racing car. (nor are the v8's to be honest)
Bear in mind also that it does have a much longer throttle travel than most cars to make it easier to control off road.
Might be worth videoing a couple of acceleration runs so people can compare it to what they know.
Maybe one at light throttle, one at half and one at full, foot to the floor.

a few people have said that to me at my local jlr stockists, when you pull away the revs are up to 1500 and its crawling about 12mph its like driving with the handbrake on but will video it so you can see. when pulling away if I floor it its even slower so I have to ease the peddle down as it starts to move but the revs are through the roof b4 its gets to move properly

That sounds more like a gearbox issue than engine. Normally that would be the temp sender but you said you'd changed that. Are you absolutely certain that the wiring and connectors at the sensor are good and was it a brand new oem sensor. There have been problems reported with cheap Chinese sensors.

Check the MAP sensor and it's pressure pipe. The MAF sensor is for EGR flow measurement only and has nothing to do with how the engine runs.

hi tnanx for your feed back have just finished stripping out the pipe work for the intercooler and found that the pipe that connects to the turbo pipe was only just hanging on the edge of it with no jubilee clip so cleaned all the pipes down and the turbo pipe all clean and clear now and put a new clip on it so now it is tight , cant try it yet though got to wait for a new fuel pipe to come Tuesday will let you know how I get on. I'm just hoping its nothing to do with the gearbox will find out Tuesday evening after work when I fit the pipe many thanx for your help

thanx for that have removed the egr and blanked it off already it was in a right a state cleaned all the pipes with brake cleaner and reconnected. hoping it was a loose pipe on the turbo someone had just pushed it on with no jubilee clip so was almost falling off thankx for the help though every bit helps should have joined here when I had my disco many thanx

Bit surprised there was no smoke if the air from the turbo wasn't making it through.

EDIT: must have been another thread where someone said no smoke. I take it back!
