Disco 2 ABS Sensor

Hi, am in need of some advice if someone more knowledgeable would be kind enough to advise me, 2004 D2 three amigos are on, fault codes read and state front right sensor intermittent signal.
So do I replace just the sensor or the hub also, reading up on this the sensor doesn't always cure the problem, secondly as this is a LHD vehicle I am not sure if the sensors are the same or cable length differs, part number for sensor I have is TAY100060 but cant find out if it is handed or not, cheers and TIA.

Try taking the lead plug off first and checking the contacts aren't crappy. I had this on ALL my sensors. All I did was take the connector apart and clean the contacts up and they've never came back now.

Tried this a few times to no avail so must need parts, not being in the UK I don't want to order the wrong parts or not the right ones

+1 for the contact cleaning but if this doesnt help better replace the whole hub, they are not handed and dont buy cheap from ebay cos it might be worst with it or if you go for cheap remove the sensor, you'll see the reluctor ring then, make a sign on one tooth, turn the bearing and count them around as to make sure it has 60 teeth cos there are cheap ones with 55 and the TC will kick in unwanted then, in this case send the hub back and ask for refund, keep the original sensor too and measure it's resistance and if it has between 950 - 1100 Ohm keep it as spare

Iirc, from looking at mine, the leads whether LH or RH on the front go to a similar position on the inside of the wing where they connect to the loom.

That part number you have is not just for the sensor but the hub bearing unit.

Try giving one of the usual suppliers a call and seeing what they say regarding what you need to order.

Sierra, thanks will bear all that in mind good info! Car is only used as a spare so don't want to spend big money on it to stand for weeks/months, daily cars are Range Rovers so we need a spare car!!!
Neilly, your right my bad, sensor I am looking at is SSW500200, but I am sure I have seen either long/short leads or an extension cable cant remember, asking suppliers is not easy as there is only one dealer here and if they quote they never include any part numbers, I could call UK suppliers but thought I would ask here first as many fonts of knowledge, cheers.

For example mine was factory fitted with long lead front sensors hardwired to the ECU plug but as one suffered by broken wire i had to install plugs to be able to fit a new hub with short lead sensor, nanoprotech electric makes it's job in the sensor's plug as well cos i've never had contact problems

What MY is yours SF? all later ones I have seen have the connector on the inside of the wings.

it's 2000 mate... (it's in my signature ) though i've seen facelifts too with long leads but i can't figure out a pattern on this

From what has been written on here so far.

I would check to see if the connectors are in the wings. If they are then good news. Give a UK supplier a shout and see if they know of a difference between LHD and RHD, most are used to dealing with Foreign sales. If they do not have the connectors then you are going to have to make a few calls to find the kit @sierrafery used to connect his in place.

I always understood ( but may be wrong) Front to Rear had different length cables supplied.

ABS sensors or hubs are the same for LHD and RHD and not handed, the sensor versions are:
short(normal) lead, like those fitted to new hubs: Front: TAR100060, Rear: TAR100070
long lead: Front: SSW500020, Rear: SSW500030
though in most cases to replace a sensor only it should have a visible lead or probe damage or to not pass the startionary system self test eventually it's resistance to be out of range or fluctuate while it's measured and the lead jiggled ... intermittent sensor fault codes are usually due to worn hub which lets a play in the reluctor ring, or if the fault is air gap related it's certainly the hub.

Sierra, from what you say probably better to order a complete hub ass then I have both suspect parts, I did read yours and a few other versions of how to do the ABS wiring mod as this has not been done, however my electricians are Asian so English is a problem and I am no electrician, would you have a simple sketch/line diagram so I can get them to make up the small loom required to make this happen and take this out of the equation also.

There is a well made tutorial(better than others on the web) with a simplified version of the SVS wiring mod on http://www.thed2boysclub.co.uk/index.php but you have to be registered to acces it.

I changed my hub it also came up with intermittent signal. Normally flagged up fault on turning steering wheel I put it down to faulty abs ring. second time on that corner I replaced hub now all working fine.
