Right! I have a Freelander 1, 1.i 05 plate. I want to replace the clutch but have received different information as to who made the original clutch system. I have heard Borg And Beck and some say Land Rover had their own make. If anyone has any advice I would be grateful.

I am asking a general question. There is no emergency I apologize if I have posted in the wrong area. I am at home and safe and well!! I am asking so I can buy and change my clutch at home. I just want to know if anyone knows Freelander 1 original clutch makers.

OE would have been LUK I expect. LUK were definitely on the preferred supplier list.
However, LR, like many manufacturers, would have used a few different suppliers on the production line.
Stick to LUK or Borg And Beck and you won't go far wrong.

The clutch taken out of my FL1 which is no longer in my ownership was a valeo, I do not know if these were the original clutch or not, it was changed due to the slave failing but I had the whole clutch changed replacement was LUK, I also had the LUK in my R40 Tourer and my MGZT few pics below.

Hi I have just replaced mine can't help on make but I bought complete clutch kit and csc slave cylinder from Calder Clutch Services in Brighouse, West Yorkshire cost a whopping £75.00 all in. Superb part value for money. Google them.

Land Rover would have used Borg and Beck , LUK or AP Lockheed. Or at least they were when I was selling parts.
If you stick to one of these makes you won't go wrong generally. (Although no manufacturer is immune to faults)
Other decent makes I would use are Quinton Hazell and Valeo.
