I'd like to raise the tyre size within reason but here we are held to the manufacturer size originally fitted! It's a lot of money to invest and then be told at the french mot that it failed due to the tyres not being correct!!
My understanding was that the 235 x 85 x 16 was the closest match to the original size of 7.50 x 16. which were fitted to Defenders. The only difference is the width of the tire. The 235 are a couple of mm wider.
Yep Grrrrr I am running 235/70/16 as per the handbook of my 99 model and were already on the car.

just wanted something a little better than road tyres. just thought 50/50's would be a small inexpensive way to gain a bit more other than selling a child or organ!
organs have gone, the range rover is a must to drive around in as I have a few life support machines that follow me around!!!!What price you looking for your organ/s
If both our eyes fell on those tyres,... in a scrappies,.....in the 80's, then I'd of slapped my gauntlet across your face and then shot you in the back as you paced out..........positively brand new back in the day!

thank you and they are quiet on the road. stressed a bit at the tyre shop. He was going to put it on the two post lift. He was a bit moody when I asked him to jack it via the axle instead, just to be careful about the older height sensors on it ... he didn't know about the tyre pressures... Suppose they cant know it all..
