I have recently had my injectors serviced while waiting for a replacement turbo cartridge. Since then, I have noticed that the engine is sounding a little bit more clattery when warm, on idle and slightly above idle. It sounds pretty much like a leaky injector but there are no tell-tale signs. It's due for a timing belt replacement in a few months but I cannot understand how timing would be effected if all I did was service the injectors (one nozzle was replaced). Any pointers? It doesn't sound terrible but it wasn't there before so it's bothering me.

That's what I'm thinking it is really. Not too long ago I replaced a head gasket for a friend of mine and it developed this annoying tick. it turned out to be a dodgy washer. I'll get a set and replace them as soon as I can find a free half hour.

Ggrrrr I ain't happy. I went to buy some injector washers from the diesel specialist who serviced my injectors and he had a listen. "Yep, it's an injector" he told me. "it needs setting. Please be patient, remove them and bring them again next week". But why will I never learn to let sleeping dogs lie? I serviced them just because the vehicle was out of action for a week. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

GGrrrrr. Still not happy. Got them re-done. He said that the new nozzle he fitted turned out to be faulty and he replaced it however it feels lumpy on tickover when warm. The ticking noise is gone but it still doesn't feel right. It feels as though it's chuffing (like a marine engine). I'll go again and see what he things. Hope it's not a head gasket because I really don't feel like pulling the head off in a heatwave.

I just went to the diesel specialist who serviced my injectors and he suggested that i do a compression test. I'll go get a second opinion as it seems to me that the problem started after he touched them. At present it sounds like a very slight misfire at idle. i'll try to upload a video when i find some time.

Dunno if you can hear it but there's a distinct ticking noise which to me sounds like it's coming from number 1 cylinder. I placed the injector with the new nozzle in number 1 cylinder to be easier to identify. Am I right in thinking that this is part of a duff batch? I just ordered a brand new complete injector from ebay. At 50 quid, I think it's worth a shot.

UK. Ebay.

BTW, the vid i posted is prior to injector replacement. It's all clattery and it had a horrible vibration that could be felt through the steering wheel. That's gone now.
