This started out as an ex-Police Land Rover 90 petrol before being used by an off-roader as a weekend toy, before being bought by a mechanic and converted to 200tdi, before being used as an off-roader as weekend toy (again) before being bought by me as a project 3 years ago...

Personally, I would try and retain original appearance a bit more, but that looks like a tidy and thorough restoration job! :)

Yes, but then it would be another Land Rover the same as everyone elses.

I remember when I finished it and posted a few pics on my Facebook page, I was sent a number of messages from people who said that I should have discussed the build with enthusiasts who would have been happy to 'give me some tips and point me in the right direction'. As if I needed permission to build my own Defender.

Looks good to me! Well done!
Land rovers were invented for owners to customise and I love that no two are the same, and seeing other people's takes on what suits them best. If people want to count rivets then so be it but surely it must get boring counting the same amount of rivets on multiple near identical vehicles.
Each to their own!

Wasn't a criticism, merely a comment! :)

But to be accurate, it isn't a Defender! It is a Ninety. ;)

Oh, no......... You're not one of those guys are you?

This is the type of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put. - Winston Churchill

Lifelong pedant, me! :D Or should that be peasant!

It isn't exactly pedantic. Just accurate. A Ford buff would point it out if you called a Mondeo a Sierra, although they are quite similar. :)

Hardly the same thing is it? Mondeo and Sierra are completely different cars. The 90 and the Defender are exactly the same, just called different names when the Disco came out.

So a more accurate analogy would be the Pajero / Montero / Shogun - All the same, just different badges. Pedantic.... ;)

I have always been an unpleasant peasant! :D Someone has to do it!

And a Ninety and a Defender 90 are not exactly the same.
They have quite different engines, although based on the same block, check out the differences between indirect and direct injection. And many detail differences, especially as the Defender 90 changed with the passing years.

That is a great outcome. Love the colour and I really like the bumper, which is what I would have bought, if I could have justified the extra cost.

I can't make out what you have done to the drivers side air intake. You also named your post "Puma updates", but I don't see any references or questions on the subject.

Really good posting, with fine pictures for those of us that can't read.

Driver's side and passenger side air intakes are Range Rover Sport. I also moved the indicated repeater underneath the intake as well and de-seemed the wings into a single piece.

Puma Updates is my profile name because we do a Puma Dash conversion for the Defender, but I didn't say that just in case the Spam Police come knocking...
