2005 Freelander 1 with 133,000 miles that we feel is a very exiting auto to drive.
I'm going to have the 3 belts one of which is the timing belt replaced.
I understand that this needs to be done every 75,000 miles?
Mechanic #1(import specialist) says he doesn't have tools tell me I will have to go the dealership.
Mechanic #2(import specialist) says "$1400 and I don't like this car"
Mechanic #3 says "I only work on GM products,"
Dealership says $1800
Google say from $1000 to $1700
Daughter says Mechanic #2 and get the $600 rear window fixed (still without rear wiper)

Surely Mechanic #2 has the tools?
What do you say?
"Don't call me Shirely?"

I thought the belts would have be the same as the MGZT V6 190 belts replaced every 90000 miles or 6 years which ever came first, the cost here would be no more than £450 = $480 give or take a few bucks, water pump and thermostat to be changed at the same time.

Gates are most likely the best to use, then Conitech,

I/we know of a chap whom does the belts for £450 and uses the above

The FL KV6 belts take about 5 hours to change and don't require any special tools, if you know what you are doing.

See my sig link on how to do them yourself.

The parts are available and cost under £300 for everything that is needed, including the water pump.

@Arctic2
The engine is the same as the KV6 fitted to the MG V6 models. Those are 90 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.
LR altered the service schedule for the FL V6 to 75 K miles or 5 years, whichever comes first.
This was to take into consideration, the harsher conditions the FL has to endure. If road driving is done, then the MG/Rover scheduled times can be used. ;)

Rock auto has all the parts available which is what I used.

The KV6 belts and tensioners and thermostat is very similar to a Honda J Series V6 except for the additional back two can belts.

I found his video very useful when I did mine:
