have recently changed the front shocks and have a clunk noise/knock comming from front which I don't think was present before.

-ARB droplinks are new (couple of months old)
-One track rod end was replaced (few months old and other doesn't have any movement.) and both not touching anything but may just replace the other just in case.
-Top mounts both replaced
-New shocks
- New Bushes on ARB, centered (joubilee clip and washer) and not touching the shocks. also re tightened the ARB clamps down.
-wishbone bushes look fine and wishbone not touching subframe when moved by hand but will be replacing them with poly bushes in the next weeks.
-sump guard fastened and every bolt is tight in place.
- springs intact
- exaust not hitting anything

have checked every bolt and everything tight and solid in place.
noise is more evident on speed bumps and other sharp drops of the suspention.
spmetimes I can seel a thump trough the steeering wheel and that's whi I'm gonna replace the other track rod end but doubt its the culprit as thwe noise is like something hitting with the chassis/body.

Have read some previous threads but not been much help.

And this is after new shocks. Also removed one drop link so there will be no tention on ARB and took it for a drive and knock was still there. so think that rules out ARB and Droplinks.

Biggest problem is it moves about. One day it sounds like the steering rack, another like a worn bush, then maybe something hitting the subframe.
As yet nothing has dropped off mine, so I'm sure it'll be fine til I get the lot renewed. And it will still clunk.

will be taking it for VRT (MOT equivalent) and hopefully he may get some indication or locate noise. although it should pass without any probs

will check that too. also could it be the rubber between the spring and the topmount? as I have used the old ones. lookd fine. and where can I buy these from as I dn't know the propper name for those.

also had found one of these bump stops slightly thorn. could this be the sourse of noise?

Drove it back from work and from what I can hear, if I'm going over a speed bump and the suspention is compressed, its fine. the knock is comming when the front left suspention opens back.

You could try putting your old shocks back on and see if that makes a difference. Maybe put one back at a time

That's also an option
But leaving it for later.

Just replaced the nuts at the top mounts with nylon lock nuts. And re tightened them as much as I can. Noise seems gone but will have to give it some time before I can celebrate.

There's a plastic bearing at the strut top (part 7 in diagram). I'm sure these are responsible for a majority of knocks at the front.

ok nothing improved after replacing and tightening top nuts.

@Nodge68 I have replaced the top mounts, including bearings when replacing shocks. The Bearings are metal not plastic on the new ones if i can remember right just like tho old ones as they were also badly rusted and bearing fell apart when removed. only difference in my current setup from the pic is, one of the bumpstops is slightly thorn and will sty to replace and also used same dust covers. coil sits on dust cover plastic/rubber and then on top mount.

can try putting back one of the old shocks but old one on driverside was faulty. when took the spring off the piston just went down on its on and could not hold open on its own.
