We all know the foibles and common issues related to Freebie ownership but my question is whether a Freebie is more or less likely to go wrong depending on how you treat it?

I don't mean one that's led a hard life in a quarry or in the outback but just one that has been subjected to the odd kerb, occasional field or bit of gentle greenlaning compared to one used exclusively as a Chelsea tractor.

Basically, as long as it's serviced properly, is a Freebie up to taking the bumps and minor abuse without provoking the beast?

I know that they can break no matter how careful you are with them but my question is if they are more likely to break if not treated with kid gloves.

Mine had under 55k and a full land rover main dealer history but that didnt stop it spitting the engine out. Search the forum for my "a funny thing happened".

ahem. . . .mines bin totally abused [orft road] and just keeps going, mind you i look after it myself , i agree that the rear window design is total ****e , and cable gliders on windows [old hat] the other issues we all know about, the td4 engine is good , un old series keeps on going, the newer versions of the gaylander seem [Earlie days yet] to be good. . . .I'm happy:) :) :)
