Hi all. Why is this lambda sensor in such and impossible location? Is the only way to remove it to remove the exhaust manifold.. Any trick ways of getting it out appreciated .

Garages have a special spanner with a gap in for the cable. You could try to make a socket for it. Get a socket of the correct size and grind out a slot for the sense cable. That sensor will be in tight so be ready for a wrestling match!

you can get either spanners which are like the brake spanner with a cut out in it or the socket as said I warm the engine up squirt a bit of wd on it and bingo.

I removed the manifold, chopped in in half and used a 22mm socket on the impact driver

I meant to get back on this. Took the exhaust manifold off in the end which luckily was not problem. The sensor was really tight , in the end i had to heat up with a blow torch to loosen. New one fitted , new head studs and nuts for the manifold and all good.

Thanks
