My MX5 is a grey import and was also mint when the father in law imported it 20 years ago. We were told all the same reasons as listed in the ad. Here are a couple of points from my experience they didn't mention.
  • The radio will need a 'stepper' to bring it into the UK spectrum and I found the quality of signal was pretty poor, I think it has the K+H system, would it work with a splice into the system?
  • You need to change the speedo from KMH to MPH. Also if you are thinking that you may resell it you will need some documentary evidence that the mileage up to a certain date was XXX KMs which equates to XXX Miles otherwise you will be overstating the distance it has been driven.
  • I have also found parts are a bit of an issue, or more a case of parts sellers being an issue, the car will not be in their systems so they cannot locate the correct parts despite it being a LHD vehicle with a few minor regional variations.
  • The same goes for insurance, some companies will take the mick because its not a local car for local people and comparison web sites will be 'unable to process your request'.
  • If your lucky you may still have the flare installed (but illegal in the UK). I didn't know I had one until it was nicked whilst at a specialists, only when I looked for a replacement did I find out what it was and that I had been breaking the law all that time.

Entropy, I'm not considering for a moment spending 8k on a P38, I was just impressed by how clean it was. Wouldn't stay that way for long on UK roads.
By the way, I think I saw this one for about 12k when I was looking to buy mine over a year ago. I'm guessing they have a good margin on it?!?!?!?!?!!!

That car has been totally steamed cleaned.

Most of them would turn out like this if you're brave enough to steam your's.
These traders don't give a Sh*t as long as they sell it.
