Afternoon All

i have currently got a freelander TD4 2005 and it has a intermittent light on the dash an orange engine with the exclamation mark. the light comes on when i accelerate moderately hard or it gets to 2000 revs when just feathering the throttle. the light goes off as soon as i lift off the power and up until the light comes on i can hear the turbo whistling quietly at least thats what it sounds like. Any advice on where to start looking would greatly appreciated.

I'd start looking for the diagnostic socket in the passenger footwell - then I'd look for a diagnostic reader - I think an 05 TD4 can use a normal (cheap) ODBII reader rather than a LR specific one - but don't hold me to it. It will tell you why the light was turned on.

That's a classic split boost pipe. It's probably the elbow pipe that feeds the inlet manifold, via the EGR valve. Look for splits in the pipe.

thanks guys much appreciated i have been having a google and come up with split boost pipe or someone also suggetsted a dodgy lift pump so im off outside to check all boost pipes. if anyone else can confirm Nodge68`s theory it would be appreciated.

pk so i have had a look as best as in failing light ut there dosnt seem to be no noticeable splits that i can see wold it be noticeable? and any other suggestions of what it could be?

They are very hard to see, even can be a worn spot rubbed on a bolt on something, check in daylight by feel as well.

thanks speckydude i did think they felt unusually soft maybe just replace all anyway and see how that goes

So this weekend I replaced the three hoses with nice new silicone versions but that didn't solve the issue id been reading that you can have the same symptoms from a knackered low pressure fuel pump so parts were ordered and new pump and filter were fitted and problem seems to be sorted.

Grumpy gel I didn't I used the google diagnostic test lol apparently this particular issue dosnt log any fault codes but all sorted at least
