I recently bought a P38 Vogue 50 Autobiography, T reg (OK, you can stop laughing now!), some previous toe-rag - sorry, owner, had removed the dvd player, leaving the screens, marked Sony, in the headrests. Does anyone know what dvd player it would have had installed and/or what would be a decent substitute?

If you can find the RCA inputs for audio and video (usually 1 yellow, 1 red and 1 white) for each screen then any 12v DVD player will work.

Hello and welcome fentigerover!

DVD players either weren't available for cars or weren't invented in 1998 - can't remember. Either way, the Vogue 50 was originally fitted with a VHS Video Cassette player in the lower part of the centre console in the rear. It's probably why it's been removed. Any 12v (or portable) DVD player will play through the system as SASBOB says. It will play either through the stereo or through the infra-red headphones but not both together. The left hand push button switch above the video switches on the headphones. If playing through the stereo, you need to tune it to 87.7MHz I think. (It's a while since I've used mine as it still has the VHS player in). The right hand push button is power on/off.

Note the video & audio go through the part Sony system that's located behind the sub woofer which is above the CD player. The same part has the PCB for the analogue TV tuner (which is Sony but obviously no use nowadays). The video then goes via a splitter located (on mine anyway) behind the nearside rear seat. It's just shoved under the carpet. The audio goes to a FM modulator which sits under the radio.

Only one screen will work with the remote and that's the drivers side. You also need to remove the trim surround as this blocks off the infra-red - wonderful LandRover thinking eh! If only one screen works when you hook something up, try swapping around the outputs from the video splitter.

I have some pics in the gallery if you need to compare.
As far as I know, you're only the third person on this Forum to have one of these. Much rarer than the common or garden Holland & Holland:D:D:D
(But I have to admit I like how they've done the wheels on the H&H)

Ok i can power up my vhs but my screens dont power up do i need the factory radio for the screens to power up also my satnav screen is white no pic atall but satnav works when off or handbrake off i do however have an av lead in the stereo hole where should that be attached to
