oil leaks

I have a couple (maybe) of oil leaks but unsure where from.
engine oil is dripping from the bottom of the fly wheel cover im guessing this could either be crank rear oil seal or the seal between the engine and flywheel cover??

but what is weird is it started to leak before i ever ran the engine !! i filled the engine with oil but didn't start it but about 3 days later i noticed the leak.
i have replaced the crank rear oil seal when replacing clutch but it could of pinched but i didn't think it would leak until the engine had ran as the oil sits lower than the seal correct?

there is a leak from the sump at the back could this be running down and making it look like its oil seal/ fly wheel housing seal?

also i have since ran the engine ( not moved just ran for maybe 1 min) and the leak hasn't got worse.

Sounds like the flywheel housing/block is leaking. Did you a gasket or sealant or is it the old o ring type?

Could also be the bearing cap but I'd say rear crank is most likely given that it's been disturbed.

i didn't take the flywheel HOUSING off !!!! (didn't no i had to ) when i replaced the rear crank seal , but i had never seen the engine running before so could of always been leaking.

i stuffed some tissue up by the rear sump and fly wheel house last night and the is no evidence of a leak from wade plug / bottom of gear box This morning so its coming from the rear sump area a tracking down to the gear box .i have a spare sump gasket and some Threebond sealant so will try that before i take the box back out i think.

would the flywheel housing leak even if the engine hadn't been ran ??? just filled with oil and left

I guess you mean flywheel housing because there's no way you can replace the oil seal without taking the flywheel off.
To do it properly, you need to take the housing off. The seal guide included with a new seal needs the housing off to work.

I don't think the rear crank should leak as the oil level is below it. But turning it over would generate oil pressure even if it didn't start.

Yea sorry I didn't remove flywheel housing.
I ran it up today and nothing coming out wading plug it definitely running down from rear sump area so will do sump first as it's easier.

Still think it's the flywheel housing but the bit of the sump that goes over the rear main bearing cap needs to be well sealed. Also sometimes the sump is over tightened and distorts.

OK, so let me get this right ...
It didn't leak before you filled her up with oil, then began to leak when you topped her up?
Then it carried on leaking about the same amount when you ran her?
Don't get too overexcited and throw a lot of time and money at it, just start at the top and check that the oil isn't coming out of the back end of the rocker cover gasket, if it is, replace the gasket!
Remember that oil doesn't tend to leave much of a trace as it runs down, especially if it's clean.

All sorted was the rear of the sump leaking , hence why it leaked when I filled it with oil , obviously really !! Land Rover always fear the worst But usually the simple answer

The dipstick holder tube has been known to move in the olive next time you change the oil check how much it takes to fill it , might be getting over filled.
