Hi! My freelander is 1999
I live in finland and now here is -29 degrees so it causes some problems with electrics and plastic parts, but now my freelander is in warm garage.

I cant open my tail gate. When i pull handle nothing happens.

Also i cant get my tail window up. When i press button it raises about 0,5mm and then comes beep noise and it goes down.

I took plastic panel off, but i dont know what to do. Maybe i could force door open or window up. How can i bypass with another battery?

I also have three amigos and fault code says it is right rear abs sensor so i ordered new, and my right front wheel bearing is dead so i ordered new.

Thanks for your help!

Is the battery fully charged? so many things can be put down to dropped voltage, so it's worth checking
I'm not sure, it also gave 3 fault codes about battery low voltage and airbags low voltage or something like that. It starts and runs well. First thing in morning i will charge battery. Thanks!

Handles microswitch was loose and black cable was broken, i used two needles and i got it open. Tail window is just stuck when i lift window and someone presses button it comes up. Just needs oiling i guess.

Hi, I have similar problem in that tailgate door will not open. The window works fine. You say that you used to needles to get it open. could you please explain how this is done. I have already managed to get the interior panel prised open enough to get to the latch solenoid. Many thanks.

It is almost a year so i don't really remember. But I remember something that i used those needles to connect 12v to lock. So i bypassed microswitch...

if you look from underneath you will see two small x head screws if you undo these you can take the handle part out and I bet at least one of the springs has gone and probably stuck so sticking the handle I have just done mine and no need to take the whole thing off.

I hope I am not trying to 'teach my grandmother to suck eggs' but.....
I have just replaced my tailgate handle so had to read up about how the lock works.
Here goes. Insert the key in and turn it clockwise and HOLD it until the glass is fully raised. If you release the key before the glass is fully up then it it will go to the fully open position.
Lock the car using the key fob, open with the key fob, pressing the open button twice, and the tailgate should now be openable via the tailgate handle..
