Freelander 1 MAF'less Remap? Ronbox or one of the many alternatives

But has anyone tried them?
If you try TDI Tuning's site they want £250 or £330.
By the way, when I look for items for my beast, I am given a choice of two TD4's, 109 bhp & 112bhp. How do I find which is mine, please?
I`ve got a TDI tuning box fitted. Its one of the earlier £80 ones so once programmed it cant be changed. The ones that cost £250-£300 can be reprogrammed to other vehicles so you just swop it car to car. Its the best mod I`ve fitted and completely transformed the car.

I can assure you that my mafless 75 does significantly more than 30mpg....

The 160 rover 75 map was made by a bunch of guys on the 75 forums. It's designed for different injectors, turbos, exhaust diameters all sorts. And people seem to get mixed opinions on its efficiency.

A mafless remap with all variables programmed typically operates at about 95% power efficiency. That will remain constant as a maf isn't needing fixed etc.

A maf enabled remap will operate at 100% power efficiency, however as the maf degredes that will drop a lot.

Its quite common for many of us to have dual maps on our cars, one with a mafless file and another with a maf file. Again it's been done for nearly a decade in the ni Mg rover scene now pioneered by Mad Tuning and Reidy Remaps.

Hiya big lad, was hoping you might pop into this thread, sorry bout the comment in facebook. Just that I might now need therapy:p.
Are those guys still doing the remaps for the sort of money you were talking about?

I spotted this for sale on ebay and just wondered if anyone can confirm whether the seller is being honest or not. He says it's around 3 years old. and it comes with a replacement MAF which he says is a Pear burg.
Is it a Synergy 2A?

It has 2 on it, I know that seems obvious but shouldn't it have 2 a if it was that?
Bargain though, at £62.

Not sure how compatible it would be with a TD4.
the L-series ron-box was named 'synergy vp'
now it be 'synergy 4'

FL1 td4 .. uses either 'synergy one' .. or .. 'synergy 2' ( i.e. also known as '2a' )
.. my '2a' just has '2' on the label ..
the 'one' be just for fueling
the '2' / 2a .. be for fueling and maf map setting ( pierburg or bosch )

upgrades and reprogramming :

i had mine reprogrammed to use the maf map from setting '10'
to be consistent over the full range of settings for the pierburg maf
( the remaining p.maf-maps being weaker than number 10 fuel setting )

I saw it too but it looks like an old one

Mines getting remapped on Wednesday, with maf being left unplugged. Custom map and dyno. Can't wait. :D

Got remapped today, standard dyno with maf unplugged. 108bhp & 242nm. Not bad for a 12 yr old car with nearly 100k miles. Only mods are, Silicone hoses, K&N replacement filter, BMW vortex pcv and egr bypass.
After remap, 138bhp & 309nm. Well happy, smooth and very responsive. I was getting 30-35mpg. So I'll see what I get over the next few weeks. :D

I don't understand why the freelanders get such low power out of a vnt turbo with decent sized wheel, decent exhaust system, better injectors, intake and intercooler setup that 75s (which have a much small turbo) yet they will throw out 150 to 155 mafless all day long.

What's the standard figures on R75?

What's the standard figures on R75?

Two diesel variants, both mechanically identical.

115ps, and 135ps. Both generate same 300nm or 220 foot pounds of torque.

None vnt turbo, much smaller turbo actually is same used on the Renault 1.5 dci engines. Compate it to a td4 or L series and it looks miniscule.

My own 75 is throwing out about 155 bhp and 270 foot pounds but we can never get the dynos to read it right being an auto that you can't lock up. Similar manuals with remap by same agency as mine usually are throwing out 155bhp and closer to 280 foot pounds.

All on standard boost. Mines been brought up to 21.5 psi now and it's perfect. Helps the trips to Austria on the autobahns much easier to stomach.
