This morning the return spring failed on my ignition switch, so the key does not spring back from the "start" position.
Also the lockout is not working so you can put it in the start position when the engine is running.
2005 TD5.
Which part do l need to order. Is it the switch (which l assume l can fit myself) or the barrel that has failed (which l assume needs special tools to replace)?

The switch is not the easiest to get to...especially the 2 small screws holding it in. You will have to remove the instrument cluster and then perform some expert level hand contortionist maneuvers to get at the 2 screws. I gave up and drilled out the 2 shear bolts holding the entire barrel assembly in place in order to remove the whole thing. I then replaced the shear bolts with regular hex head bolts which paid off because the ignition switches are pretty flimsy and I ended up having to replace it again less that 2 weeks later.
