What is a "tratterer"?

I recently came across a large group of bullocks (about twenty) gathering around a gate in an electric fence... I was returning from fishing and had my 13 year old son with me. I had to get to the gate but it was dark and mobbed by these frisky boys. I was scared if the touched the fence while we were amongst them that there would be trouble.... we spun around to go back from where we had come from and they started to follow us, the faster we moved the friskier they became - then they started skipping and jumping. I went to pull down a barbed wire top wire to chuck my son to the other side - to find it was electrified!!!

We got back to the gate we had entered by and had to walk for an hour and a half to get back to the car... we got home at gone midnight.

This was a public right of way, obviously the cattle didn't know that. Anything I could have done to disperse them, or did we do the right thing?

Dusk isnt a good time to approach herbivores, they might be nervous about predators, lot of things hunt at dusk.

Barbed wire should never be electrified, it is very dangerous, raise it with the landowner or farmer.

Very hard to say for me. My body movements are fine for them, through experience, as above. And I am confident around them. So they rarely give me any trouble.

Cows are nice people - and very curious - I have a beard and more than once to amuse the grandchildren I have gone and sat in a field of cows to have them gather round and eventually come right up and stick their nose in my beard to check if it was edible. Had more trouble with horses = particularly one stallion that tried to mount me when I was pulling ragwort - he got a left hook up his nostril for his trouble.
off topic - ok - the doors never fell off my IIa ltwt - or my freelander - never had a tratter - never felt the need

Cows absolutely hate my Rottweiler... she does her best steer clear of them but they always make a direct line for her, not so my spaniel. I try to stay as far away from Hera s possible when this happens - much to he dissapointment.

Stating the obvious. Providing the courtesy lights work of course. You could possibly confirm the statement.
You were talking from eggsperience.

hello
I know I am new here and haven't spend a lot of time on the forum but I have come across the word
"tratterer" on a few posts?

What is a "tratterer"?

Is it contagious ?

Are they expensive?

Should I be worried if I am not one?
cheers
Mark
Tratters are mostly driven by tratterers who want to be farmers. They own a pig and go round saying "get oft my land"

This is a tratter:

Most tratterers don't own a tractor so they buy a tratter to practice with. There are a few who are farmers. Some are on ere.

Would love a farm at least a little one and I'd love a pig. It s like everything, most folk have been priced out of the market with the likes of JLS and Alex James buying farms because they are en (fooking) vogue.

And while am ere... Our Freelander doors dun't fall oft when wet. I have put up several door testing video's as proof. Many years ago a Freelanderer washed his Freelander and opened the doors to wash round the door shuts. He then reversed his trusty Freelander oft the drive and forgot one of the doors was still open. Door hit his wall and caused damage.

Now there has been the occasional picture of a Freelander with tape on it. This is masking tape. It's used to stop polish/wax going where yer dun't want it to go. Yer stick it on the plastic trim to stop yer rubbing polish on it. Then peel it oft afterwards. This process is done after washing yer Freelander as polish makes it shine and wax protects the shine.

Peeps with money can do what they want. The average peep has to struggle on in life as normal. At least yer got yer dreams. May come true one day. Yer could always get yerself a pig. They make good house pets and like travelling in the back of yer tratter.

While we is at it... we should really quit this sexual orientation fing wiff Freelanders... Equalities act (2010) not only applies to religion, race, gender, age... it also applies to sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

Like it or not, being gay / transgender is normal.

The point being, we might be offending Landy owners who are gay, lesbian, transgender etc...

So, Lord Hippo has a perfect right to be gay; leave him alone.
