What's your MPG

Those in the dash MPG are very in accurate. The ONLY way to get true MPG is fill the tank to full record mileage on the odometer, then when the tank is empty fill the tank again record the mileage on the odometer then do the math. it is a simple subtraction and division on about a 5th grade level.

have come up with a new theory, when it says empty i fill it up, :p:D:D

it even gives me the range too, lol wonder if i can beat the readings :D

that's what i've quickly learned in mined , in having the mpg display

when i first had it , was showing around 17mpg which i felt on the motorway at 60 was a tad low, also felt as though it was hanging back , but then after cleaning out the map sensor got 21 it did at one stage around 55mph went up to 27mpg , which to be honest am pleased about

think i might squeeze a few mpg when i do the egr bypass, maybe 1-2 mpg but think i will notice it more around town and know when i done the bypass on the hippo it helped and improved the smoothness and torque of the engine

don't know if it's worth fitting a synergy on this d3 , but was impressed with the last one , some go for remaps
Did you know that the D3 on dash MPG display is 5 to 10% optimistic. I got 22Mpg out of mine, but the lie-o-meter said 25Mpg. Take the display as a guide only because I can guarantee that the actual Mpg figures will be less;)

oh don't worry i never take them as gospel , it does say on the display average mpg so thought it would be out around 10% or so

is always a good game to see if u can beat the figure that displays range left, lol

i assumed they were around 10% out , never take them as 100% accurate , but good according to ur driving a rough ball park figure :)

I'm on about 25-27mpg around town at the moment, haven't been on a long run currently as I'm spending my time off working on the landy

I guess this has been done to death, but filled the old girl up tonight £70.00,to the top and 370 miles later,
so would I be right in saying swmbo is getting 27-28 mpg just driving short trip round town, which if correct I find amazing
Td5 auto driven slowly :)

What do you guys think/get?

Cheers Neil
If the old girl is in good order that's not out of the normal range, long as you're driving her carefully, I get about the same out of mine and up to 35 on a roads at about 65_ 70 mph

Me 300tdi defender gets 29mgp,
My now dead D1 300tdi manual did around 30-35 mpg,

My freelander 1 td4 manual does just over 500 miles a tank,

My 93 3.9 RRC with an auto box does 200 miles a tank if driven carefully (it does have a fuel issues which doesnt help)

Safe to say the Freelander is the daily driver, the Defender is what i drive around in the weekend, and the classic just boils my blood

When I can keep it running, I normally see 27/28mpg on the brim to brim and divide method. Mileage seems to be about right for the journeys I do so it may be a little out but not much. I did get a little heavy footed and dragged it down under 25 at one point but why work that hard to use extra fuel? At best you make a handful of minutes on a long trip and when I am on my daily commute I do about 14 miles each way and can see travel times from 20 minutes up to 50 so I just bimble along and think of the greenlane options I have when there is next a roadblock at the usual place. Last time a Passat followed me right up until the 'lose a mini in it' potholes :D

From my 94 300 tdi auto I get between 450 and 500 miles to a tank. This works out in the 28 to 29mpg range with my casio. I run till the light comes on and fill to the third pump cut off.
