You are probably nearer than me for the simple reason that I am also working on this:

GSXR throttle bodies on a modified standard K-series inlet manifold for my sprint car. It's nearly there, but I am going to amend the vacuum manifold arrangement. Plus, I have a modified MEMS1.9 to MEMS3 engine loom to fit, so I can use a mapped MEMS3 to remain compliant with my sprint class regulations ;)
What is that going into? that looks like it'll sound like a symphony! :D
 
My FL doesn't have AC, so this frees up quite a bit of space. Annoyingly the PAS pump is on the opposite side to the alternator - as it is on all FLs. But with a bit of thought, it could be mounted on the same side as the alternator, with a pressurised charge pipe, via a charge cooler (or intercooler?) to the inlet manifold.

I guess one could also use the intercooler rad from a Td4 - and maybe even some of the pipework?

It should sound amazing! :D I have a stripped out MGF ("Project Shed" - some of the build shenanigans here: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com) that I use for sprints and hill climbs, and the occasional track day. I'm planning to bolt that up to a near standard 1.8 K-series :)

I have also recently collected a 160 VVC engine from a ZR that I have even bigger, badder plans for... but that's another story! LOL
 
I think I have a spare AC pump in the shed, I'll dig it out and take a few measurements for you, you might be able to match it up to a PAS pump from another car?

Thanks! I picked up a bracket for the aircon compressor/alternator when I collected the ZR engine: I was wondering whether this might provide some solutions when it cam to supercharging: where aircon is fitted, the alternator is fitted higher up. On my non-AC car, the alternator is on a simpler/lighter bracket and is relatively a little lower down. Not ideal for wading depth I guess. :(

I've a 160 VVC engine fitted into my 143 VVC F. There's a surprising difference between the two engines. The 160 has more torque at lower RPM than the 143.
However I do have a plan to fit a 2.5 KV6 into an F, some day. The torque and sound will be intoxicating :)
 
To keep the dash working, you need to run a twin ECU setup
Mine is now running a MEMS ECU, with EBC for full ECU control of the engine

Otherwise, it's running very well when it does make it out on the road

Hoping to do a couple of shows with it next year, then unfortunately it will be up for sale :(

Yes, that's a MEMS3 :) They're wedged shaped in profile.

From the part number, it is a Freelander unit. Unfortuantely, that won't be ideal for running a 1.8T - as you'll need one for a VVC or a Steptronic. These ECUs have additional outputs which will be needed to drive the turbo hardware.

A KV6 in an F or TF would be a lovely thing indeed Nodge - especially with the right kind of exhaust. A kind of "Costello" conversion for the F :) There is a bit of a modification needed to the bulkhead to get it in, as I am sure you'll know. You may be able to re-shape the fuel tank, but generally, it is not too difficult to get it in. :) But it is a little heavier - which can be a pain with the Hydragas units - you will probably need to invidualise them and run the rear with a higher static pressure. A little easier with TF springs as these can be replaced.

With your 160VVC conversion, are you running MEMS2J or MEMS3? I can run the car (the MGF sprint car) as either potentially - but slightly easier with MEMS2J as I already have a MEMS2J ECU and the wiring loom. Just a couple of sensors to swap over :)

From the measurements I've taken and from reading others V6 exploits. There will be some bulkhead modification needed.
The KV6 is around 60 Kgs heavier than the K4. This will make a it slightly back heavy. I'll separate the suspension to compensate for this. The fuel tank will need minor modification too. I'll need to sort the exhaust manifolds but I'm thinking of running seperate pipes for left and right headers.

My 160 VVC engine is running well on MEMS2J. It runs really well but I think a KV6 F has to be the ultimate F.
 
Good luck with the KV6 conversion. There are a few out there now, and they sound fantastic. :D Certainly the ultimate in terms of noise and driving characteristics, it'll really suit the F. :D

Ultimate? That dependent on how you define ultimate. A turbo F is f-ing quick, light weight and reasonably easily packaged, bar some heat management issues. The supercharger has a historical link with the cars from the days of Stephen Palmer, and are very quick too... all depends really :)

Good to hear that the 160 runs nicely on MEMS2J. I might have to give this some serious thought! :D
 
The turbo K4 would be the ultimate F power unit for performance. Unless the KV6 is turbocharged of course. ;)
Sound wise, the KV6 has it all sown up. I love the slightly off beat low rpm exhaust note, which turns into a howl at high RPM.
