I know I'm doing something daft...

Decided to fit a Simon BBC Powerspark Dizzy.

Have got it in fine, all hooked up, but no sign of life when I turn the key.

The only 'symptom' is when I turn the ignition the 'cold start' choke light is now not coming on, like it did always before. What's that telling me?!

Put on a couple of photos, have the additional +ve connected to the coil per instructions... stumped.

Cheers

Hmm, then you're missing something:p

Assuming you have no spark at HT by earthing it close to engine block, then you need to start checking the Lt wiring.

Thanks for responses

Update... checked all the HT leads, pulled em off stuck em on again. Got some life!

Rotar arm not moving very freely so took dizzy out oiled the shaft it and popped it back in. Should have done this from the off, but first time fitting new dizzy.

Randomly turned over for a bit after a few turns of the key, didn't start but then stopped. No joy again. Swapped coil over for a spare. Getting a nice click from the solenoid.

Will have another go taking leads off and checking connections, after my brew when I've thawed out a bit. Bl00dy freezing!

Sounds like the timing is too far out to start. Did you insert dizzy as per Haynes or similar. If so, try a bit more advance to get it running and then timing gun

Back again! All sorted! Thanks for your inputs :)

Followed the workshop manual. TDC, Rotar arm pointing to cylinder 1.

Think my brain has been partly frozen this morning...lots of daft mistakes. Got her going after some experimentations with advancing and retarding the dizzy.

Looking forward to pointless 'Rovering!
