The three amigo's

I recently had the passenger rear side bearn changed on my 2004 TD5 disco. since then the three amigo's have appeared when I drive over 10mph. The fault code from the computer says rear side back sensor. The disco also drives different as if I towing weight. Were do I start? is the bearn fitted wrong? should I replace the bearn or replace the bearn and hub?

Hi, I assume you mean the wheel "bearing"? Was it an OEM one or not. If not there is a known problem with the number of teeth on the abs ring - 55 teeth instead of 60 on the original which can cause faulty readings.

I had a mechanic change it for me and he obviously has,nt a clue. How would I go about checking the ABS RING or what would I have to do?

If the mechanic has no clue what he fitted better find another who is not retarded ...was it at least a new part?, to check the slots you have to remove the sensor, make a sign and turn it around while counting the teeth through the sensor's hole, you can also check the sensor's resistance with multimeter, it has to be between 950 -1100 Ohm or it will not give proper readings

Are you sure he didn't fit a new hub? I thought the bearings couldn't be changed on a D2. (Can on a D1)
New hub has abs sensor built in. Cheap ones are about £100 and take an hour to fit.

Are Britpart considered cheap ones then? then hub with the sensor cost me about £100!!

I don't know how many teeth are on the britpart hub, but I keep getting an error code 4084 - Sensor Right hand front (Intermittent densor output during driving, Broken Wire) - HISTORICAL" but as soon as it popped up I pulled over and the code is historical not active! I'm just wondering do I need to set the ABS air gap or something, I'm at a complete loss, on both front and backs- I'm getting 2,23V read on the right hand side, on the left hand side I'm getting 2.25V

In reality, you should have cleared any historical codes, in some cases historical codes can cause the indicator lights to show.
Secondly, the output from the sensors isn't just a voltage which can be read on a digital voltmeter. The actual output is a train of pulses relative to the speed of the wheel. The only way you're going to be able to measure them with any certainty is by using an oscilloscope.
My advice would be to clear all codes, active and historical then got for a test drive. you can then read any faults at the end of the test, or have a passenger monitor the live data while you do the driving.

One did leak oil through it early within the year warranty, but was replaced without query. Other than that- years of service with no issues at all (changed all four now plus one of them twice as above!)
