D2 STEERING SCREECHING NOISE

My disco has developed a sort of low volume screeching noise when turning from lock to lock. Appears to be coming from nearside but wouldn't be certain. Had new drag link and trackrod fairly recently. Could it be anything to do with the steering damper?

First check I'd make is the level of the PAS reservoir, then condition and tension of the drive belt.
You'll probably need someone to help to locate exactly where the screeching is coming from.
I don't see how it could be the steering damper, but hey it's a fault, it could be anything.

... or steering fluid pump. Though I don't know where the pump is on a D2, My D1 300 was down the bottom of the engine on the passenger side at the front .. )

Same position on a D2, just changed mine!!

it isn't a belt screeching sort of noise, more like metal on metal. All fluid levels full.

Found the culprit. Bottom swivel balljoint boot perished. Joint running dry.
