Hi,
i thought i would put a few of my smaller questions onto one thread - hope thats ok for everyone!?

1 - Central locking - my key fob has broke so i am really struggling to get to press the unlock buttom - where can i get another from, where it can be programmed in to unlock/work with my immobliser from that is cheap lol!
Also, the passenger rear door is temperamental - one day it locks, the next you have to do it manually, it normally has to be unlocked manually - any ideas?

2 - Electric windows. Now when i viewed this LR last september, i noticed the back windows didnt work, the seller did someting to the panel where you open close them, and they worked, he then seemed to do something else and then the front worked. Now he seemed to go behind the panel - so i assume he somewhat 'flicked a switch from one to another'? or something simple? Any ideas on that one? Its not a major problem as the back ones not working stops my little ones from opening them and throwing toys out but when i come to sell it on, they obviously should be working.

3 - Reverse lights, these are not working. I thought 'check the fuse' but cant see a fuse for the reverse lights, from looking in the Haynes manual it looks like the reverse lights are operated differently to what i am used to. What is the best way to get to try and look at this?

Thank you very much in advance!!!

my key fob dont work.... i just stick the key in the drivers door lock and turn it.
rear door started playin up... would unlock on the central locking but not lock..... i took the panel of the door and dissconnected the solenoid from the lock.... i unlock the door with the key when i want to open it... otherwise it stays locked.

if you look at the window switch panel theres a fifth switch with a cross on it to dissable the rear windows... check thats turned on.....next step is to swop switches and wires arround to sort out which combinations work and narrow down the fault to either duff switch or solenoid in the door

reversing light is likely to be a duff bulb or corrosion in the bulb holder....

thanks.

rear door we already do with a key lol :)

the door has a different lock to the ignition as a week after i had it, my dad had a drive, forced the wrong key in and i ended up having a new ignition, hence i already have a few keys for it so ideally want the key fob working, also, if you just use the key, it seems to mess with the immobiliser unless you hold the key fob next to the steering wheel?

i'll try and look at the window bits later on :)

You need to gain access to the central locking solenoid behind the door card that is working intermittently, drill a small hole into the upper part of the plastic casing of the solenoid, don't go at it like a bull at a gate, you just want to pierce the outer casing use a drill that is just big enough to get a WD40 straw in. Once u have a hole, spray WD40 in. The reason the locking becomes laboured and intermittent is because the motors over time dry out. I have tried this and it does work. I had two locks that were dodgy the tailgate which stopped altogether (before I tried) and one if the rear doors that sometimes opened and sometimes didn't. The rear door works perfectly, the tailgate never did work again. I repeated this on the other doors and the central locking works very well. I replaced the tailgate unit for about £9.00 off flebay and that works as well. sorry can't help with the other questions.

windows at rear can be switched on panel so that rear switches dont work, motors can fail so can switches but you can check by using known working switch and plugging others in to check ecu for windows also fails giving similar faults under passenger footwell

I have a td4 2004, the tailgate lock opens when I used the electric windows, this in then the interior lights come on and when I press the electric window switch again, the dash and head lights flicker on.. Any help would be great

1, central locking. my fob is alive for now but almost dead if you find an answer to getting a new one and programming cheap let me know lol
2, Electric Windows. I have a 1998 300tdi and on that the rear windows stopped then the passenger one stopped after much testing turned out to be the window lift unit up under the glove box. (i haven't changed mine yet but at least now know what it is lol)
3, Reverse lights. if its a 300tdi then its F14 also works your rev counter, speedo, temp gauge, fuel gauge.... so you would know if the fuse was gone. try checking the connection to the switch on the gearbox and check the cable running over the gearbox to the engine bay. i had issue with the reverse lights, diff lock light on dash and speedo, changed all the wire's. everything there is now happy again.

good luck sorting the issue and don't let the land rover gremlins scare you away lol
