I don't mean this to be a derogatory question to those that are members or those that are reps and certainly don't want to start any arguments! But just wondered what peoples thoughts on going GLASS were? Is it worth the money? Is the green lane database good? Are area reps easily accessible?

Ive had a few land rovers in the past but mainly for tinkering with and then selling on, but Ive now got a decent 90 thats ready for driving and enjoying. I live in Rotherham so not far from the peak district.

cheers,
John

Glass is the only organisation actively fighting to keep Green lanes open for 4x4's. We have a network of reps who do good work and basically (I might be biased) are _the_ organisation to join to save Green lanes for 4x4 use.

Is it worth the money?

Yes, I think it is or wouldn't have joined or become a rep!

Is the green lane database good?

Yes. It's better than anything else that tries to cover the whole country .. BUT .. it's user led, so may not always be up to date. I use it all the time, but still often check with local councils where I can for absolute legality.

Are area reps easily accessible?

I'm right here ... ;)

As above in red .. ;)

thanks again Paul... some interesting reading. I take it the local reps are accessible by members to get legality of lanes, report problems etc...

looks like I'd better spend some hard earned cash!

Oh yeah, it's a major part of the job. I try to answer anyone, Glass member or not. At the least I'll point out the 'join us' page in my sig,, but will try to help either way .. :)

i recently joined as I wanted to know more about green lanes responsibly, got some good publications to scan through. The trailwise was good, found a few 'practice lanes' within 10 mile radius, but its quite out of date on comments of those who have been on these routes. Wish there was more on the forums offers of "we're all going green laning at X location on X date".

LOL jailon trips are mainly arranged on Facebook, hardly anyone uses the GLASS forum, I know I tried it in the past.

I dont bother with the GLASS Yorkshire facebook page much anymore, but we used to organise trips on it, so might be worth a look.

Thanks for this, better get 'down with the kids' and expand my friends on FB then..........

Anyone is free to organise trips here and will get good advice and help if asked for. There's lots of experienced laners on here including GLASS reps

The simple answer to trailwise not being up to date is to update it :)
