Hi All,

I am looking at getting a 2004 Disco 2.5 Td5 Pursuit 7 seat Ltd Edition seen at a local dealer with 195000 miles. Has only had 1 owner. waiting to go and physically see it and can check about Service history. Is it worth looking at or is the mileage too high?

looking to use it as a 3rd car for towing a caravan a couple of times a year, taking dogs out and using for stable runs etc.

nay thoughts greatly appreciated.

Do the MOT history check.
If its had numerous fails on things like tyres Id be a bit concerned as it may show the owner didnt pay much attention to the easy things.
But its about price and condition.
High mileage doesnt bother me, if its been looked after! Better genuine high miles than city/faked low miles.
Service history, lots of bills not just service stamps, is good, service books can be "made up" by unscrupulous sellers.
Condition is everything.
D2 prices are rock bottom now.

Thanks Mark.

Have just done the MOT Check (didn't realise you could do that!!!) has had some failures over the years (ball joints and had one for "Rear vehicle structure has excessive corrosion" but all have been rectified.

Interestingly ODO readings on MOT shows 12 months ago at 96k but advertised as 195k. hopefully going to see it this afternoon and can check actual.

Out if interest, what would you say it is worth for (both at 96k and 195k) if as you say they are rock bottom at the moment?

Its commercial D2s that Ive been looking at and mine has dropped from around £3.5K to about £2.5K in 6 months!
Mine has 178K miles.
Cant really say what others are worth, use Ebay search on sold listings to see what others have sold for.
Rear chassis def most vulnerable for rust, so repairs not unexpected, but recheck it.
Yes it is possible for the MOT mileage to be wrong! Ive seen cars go from 150K to 80K and back again!
Sometimes its an innocent mistake, Km used instead of miles, but its a bit silly to try to fake it, as, AFAIK, the actual history cant be changed.
Mark

Still going well at 320k miles, rear chassis rails and cross member need close inspection, everything else is a DIY job. Haggle if it has a dodgy history. Value no idea but for a laugh check a popular car buyer website - reckon mines only worth £99 !!

Our Daisy is a 2004 TD5 model at 180K miles. We've owned her since 2007/25k miles. Major work done so far: new rear diff, brake discs, brake pads (twice), radiator, gearbox & clutch, rear air springs (twice), shocks, radiator, steering box, starter motor, windscreen, injector harness and injector seals. I have serviced her every 6,000 miles (oil, grease and all filters). I still get 100 mph and just shy of 30 mpg. The only job the garage got was the new gearbox and the windscreen, I did all the rest myself. No corrosion to speak of yet and having moved to Oz where they don't salt the roads it's looking good. Leather seats mean that the interior scrubs up very well.

For what you want it for, it's perfect.

The d2 is a great old bus, I love mine to bits, as above check the rear chassis rails for rust and rot, do the usual checks on a potential purchase,

Look for excessive engine smoke, and if it's on 18 inch rims, it may ride a bit harshly.

Mines on 170K, and drives great, it gets the odd niggling fault, but there's a fortune of knowledge on here about them on here.

Cheers
