Will a k&n airfilter on a 03 TD4 give much more power/accelaration? is it worth the 40 odd quid they want on flea bay ? anyone had one or got one?
thanks
:D

I have one on my 04 TD4 and I was very happy with the purchase. I'm not sure if it was the fact it was a K&N filter or just that my old filter was very dirty but there was a marked difference in performance. I wouldnt say it made the car faster but it cetainly made the gear changes (auto box) smoother.
OK a standard paper filter costs less but I think its worth the difference.

I put a Power Tech performance filter (or somthing like that, the badge is on the back of my car...but it's raining so im not checking) the guys in motor world said it's better than K&N, and it has made a slight difference in performance, but more than that it sounds GREAT, ha ha

fitted k and n filter to my 2002 td4 auto as old one was very dirty. not sure if proformace improved but worth the money easy to clean when needed and will save you money in the long run!!!!!!!!!!

If you mean the panel filter they make then may-be.If you mean the 57i cone then no, not unless u make up a cold feed for it. You need to get cold air to the filter not hot as cold air is denser.Speek to roverron if you want an aftermarket filter or any other info on performance.

The K&N Filter is a direct replacement forthe paper filter so cold air will still be drawn into the airbox.

As you said, if you just fitted the filter and didnt re-fit the top cover, then yo would just get warm air which would reduce performance.

nines an 03 plate it was flat on power,i put a k&n on it not much more go,then i was told to change the air flow meter.with the k&n it flew.but ive also just had mine superchipped, now it really flys 135bhp now..:D

I have had one on my wifes 02 TD4 manual for over 2 years. It does improve throttle response and it also last a lifetime if cleaned properly.

I too have a Roverron box as well as the filter and the car is transformed :D

You must have had fun on the rolling road getting the 135 BHP figure.
Did they jack the back up or did you throw the lump onto a chassis Dyno? :D Or was that just a figure off the top of your head? (In which case Tiny has a zillion BHP and a trillion lbf of torque ;)

Personally I rate K&N's over every other filter on the market. They flow air better but most importantly they filter better than anything else on the shelf. I know this from my flow-bench testing days. Don't expect an increase in power on a standard engine just sleep safe in the knowledge that no nasty bits are getting sucked into your cylinders.
