Hi all,

I am struggling to sort out as problem with my Discovery TD5.

When I try to start the car, it recognises the key fob and so the starter motor will turn over, but there is no sign that it wants to start!

This is complicated by the fact that we had it converted to no key and a push button start, (by necessity!). This was done by an auto spark and always worked flawlessly!

Anyone have any clue as what to look at? Totally flumaxed!

Hi again,
I will try and check out the crank sensor over the weekend.
The Nanocom idea has been in the back of my mind and I guess that may have to be my next route.
Cheers again,
B

Beside the crank sensor which is suspect did it run aftre the pump change at all? if not you have to run few purging cycles( 5 consecutive full throttles with ignition on II and wait untill the MIL stops flashing)...you better do that anyway cos if the injectior washers are the problem it should start this way just maybe die soon
1. If it's manual try to bump start it and if it starts this way replace the starter(not valable for auto).
2. swap relays R9(main) with R8(heated screen) to rule this out
3. unplug the inertia switch and bridge it's pins to rule it out too
plugging in a tester would be the best move though

Hi Sierrafery,
Your message just came in as I was looking at the thread!
I have just tried the Inertia switch and it is not that, think I have tried the relays, but will try again to be sure.
Not runs since fuel sender change, but did not purge properly, so will try that in a mo'
Thanks for the input.

SHE LIVES!
It looks like my first thought of it being the fuel sender was probably correct, but being an impatient tool I did not purge the fuel system properly.
After a friendly reminder from Sierrafery, I went back and did 3 purge cycles and then foot flat on accelerator and crank over, she spluttered a little, then sprang back to life.
Outstanding.
