Can copper slip be used on brake unions?

Afternoon all,

Quick question. After rounding off one union and 2 bleed nipples is there any reason I can't put a little copper slip on the new ones? Hopefully make it easier next time?
 
Can be used but it might be a good idea to make sure it doesn't get in the fluid, just on the threads.

are you using what is called line wrenches (spanner for u Brits)

I generally use clean grease on bleed nipple threads as an anti rust compound.

I assume that any contamination of those little flakes of copper in my fluid and working seals in my braking system are mutually exclusive.
 
Copraslip on threads will do no harm. Get some brake spanners as in Johns post. Make sure they are single hex and on no account bihex. Never use bihex spanners on brake unions or bleed nipples.
 
and also put a bit of copper grease 'tween the pipe and the inside of the union on the male fittings - the girls too, if you can - but the surface inside here is much smaller ( o_O ).

defo keep it out of the fluid, as much as humanly possible:)

Got proper union spanners, got it off but as I turned it was rounding so much so that I won't be able to do it back up properly.

Thanks, used minimal slip on the nipples I took off today. Slowly but surely it all going back together! To think all I wanted to do was change my brake pads!

Change the pipe or tube nut.

Great maybe as a last resort if the tube nut is never going to be used again or you are interested in crimping it onto the pipe.

I know that feeling, went to change my brake pads the other week, ended up replacing both front calipers, carriers, and flushing the whole system with new oil lol
