Hi guys,
Ive got a 2004 3.0d and recently i had an engine service and gearbox filter and fluid change, Since havin that done the gearbox has been playing up in its a bit jerky especially around 1500rpm to about 2000rpm and just seems weird, i took it back to the garage and he plugged it in and the only fault he got was gearbox had low voltage, i think it was 11 volts or something. It changes gear normally most of the time and more so when accelerating harder , sorry cant be more specific or technical but does anyone have any ideas ?? The battery has gone flat a couple of times , could this be why when hooked up it said gearbox voltage low ???
Thanks in advance..

The L322 needs to have a GOOD healthy battery to function properly.
If your battery is a dud, it will play havoc with anything and everything.

Start with ensuring the battery is in top notch.
To be honest though, the box sounds more 'mechanical' to me. The GM box in your Rangie are common for issues and typically need replacing around 80-100k miles. Has it been replaced before? Mileage? Was it serviced by a reputable garage that know what they are doing? Correct oil? Did they state what condition the old oil was in etc?

Hi, The mileage is 98,000 and the garage are Land rover specialists and when speakin to them ( its father and son who run/work the place ) they seem to know their stuff and i did ask him the condition of my box and he said yeah u have a good one, no real issues when he took old filter out said nothin really on the magnets or crap inside and my box was totally fine before it went in, no hiccups at all !
I do get on start up HDC error a lot but that seems to be workin fine when i check it, what could possibly give a low voltage reading to the box ?? As thats the only thing he could find when plugged it in ??

So it should have all been done correctly then.
The HDC on startup is common if voltage is slightly down, I would get the battery checked for condition and replace if needed with the biggest most powerful that will fit in the tray (I went for the Bosch 020 S5) eurocar parts doing 25% off at the moment too.

If it's slightly juddering around 40mph, signs of TC failure....seems strange it started just after the service - Hopefully something hasn't been dislodged in the box due to the oil change that's causing the issue...

they should of reset the adaptive settings within the gearbox when the fluid was changed.

the new fluid will be much thinner and cleaner than the old stuff probably as they are usually gunked up with metal filings !

hopefully they havent disturbed any sh!te when changing the fluid !

Well next tuesday its goin back to the garage that did the work and im gonna leave it with them for a few days so they can go over it, But last night the trans fail box msg kicked in and went into limp mode but pulled over a little bit up the road and turned it off and when started it again all was running ok again .
