Electrical Failure

Hello again.
Been a bit drawn out but, finally got round to checking out the problems on the Rangie. (better late than never).
Battery Drain.... Tracked it down to the Computer under the seat constantly waking up and taking the battery down.
Now, I have owned the Rangie for 5 years, been in the same location, and never had this problem before. The receiver is the latest type with the blue spot.
Disconnected the Antenna wire and now the computer sleeps like a baby. What could be going on ?. Then I remembered that the battery drain problem started at the same time that Vodafone carried out a major upgrade on a mast which is about 400 yards away. Seems as technology moves on we may experience more problems with receivers.
Dead Electrics.... All electrics failed and came back after 5 minutes. Checked and cleaned all power and earth cables, nothing untoward found, checked underbonnet fuse box and found slight scorching around one of the blower relays. Searched this forum and various other sources on the net, and it seems that in most cases, when this happens it's the fuse box at fault. some sites recommend changing it every 5 years !
So I have ordered a new genuine Landrover under bonnet fuse box from Island 4x4 and hope this will be the end of my problems.
Will let you know when it arrives and is fitted.
Cheer all.

Holy s**t, just googled the RF Receiver and it's selling for nearly £300 including VAT !!!
They were a rip off at £150. Seems the rarer they get the more expensive they get.

The last time I checked, Island 4x4 were the cheapest at £200 +VAT. Still not as cheap as it should be... for what it is... but a bit less than dealer prices!

Update....
Well, it's been a week since I disconnected the RF antenna so , I tried starting the car and away it went,no more flat battery.
The new fuse box arrived Thursday and I have fitted it today.
Time will tell if it was the cause of my electrics failure or not, but I do hope it was.

Guess what......the electrical Gremlin is back !!!!!
Driving home yesterday when suddenly electrics start playing up again. Same thing radio went off, instruments stopped working, gearbox fault etc.
I was only 100 yards from home so, I parked up, turned the engine off and tried to restart it, no go, starter just clicked. Checked battery with volt meter, reading 8.9 volts.
Had to go out so used other car. Returned an hour later and the battery was reading 12.2 volts and the Rangie started. All back to normal.
As stated before, I have checked all cables, Alternator, and fitted a new fuse box.
Now, my logic tells me that a bad connection somewhere would not make the battery drop to 8.9 volts (if there was was a dead short there would have been smoke I'm sure) and then recover back to 12.2 volts later on.
This points me to a defective battery but, I personally have never known a battery behave like this. I would like to confirm the battery is duff if possible before shelling out more cash on a new battery.
Is there anything on the car that could drag the battery down like that without causing a fire ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cell shorting in the battery?

It must be something to do with the battery internals but, so unusual to be intermittent. Normally if a battery fails it remains failed !!!
Thanks for the info on the receiver, I thought the blue spot was the latest.....oh well more money.

I've not read the whole thread, and I know you've said the alternator's been checked, but have you checked its charge rate since this happened? If it's stopped charging while the car's been running, the battery will have taken a hammering. but when you switched off, it can have recovered enough to start it.
