I need to update this - and ask for help again..
It wasn't the aircon pump, the garage replaced the Alternator, Tensioner and Idler. Total cost £341
6 weeks have passed without a problem, but last night, the exact same symptoms re-appeared,
eg, when turning the steering lock fully to the right (as if turning right at a 90 degree junction) I get a tremendously loud metal crashing thrashing noise that ceases when the steering returns to centre
As before, if I turn disengage the aux belt drive (eg for aircon) this does not happen and all is quiet.
Can anyone advise, what is physically happening to make this noise happen (with the aux belt engaged) only when the steering is turned fully to the right? I can't figure this out, I'd like to try to figure it out before heading back to the garage.
