Hi Chaps, hope all is well. After 6 months or so after selling my P38 4.6 I'm considering getting another life ruiner....

The other day my other half and I were waiting at a round about and out of the blue she says "so when are you going to buy another range rover, can we have one and keep the 6 series?". Well I didn't need giving permission twice!

The only stipulation seems to be that I'm not allowed another P38 again as its a bit old... So its got to be an (early) L322 which I know are fast getting as bad of a reputation as the P38. I know of potential gearbox issues, but I'd like to think ive got a good feel for autoboxes having had several so I'm assuming if tested properly I should be able to find a good one. M62 V8's ive also a bit of experience with, dad had a 740i with neck end of 200k on the clock before it was traded in I had an M5 with an S62 and ive currently got an N62B48 in my 650i.

I live near Lancaster and was wondering if there were any guys local to me who had an L322 4.4 that I could have a closer look at so I can get a bit of a feel for them and I was really cheeky take me for a little run in it.

I think I was having a moment of madness... I do miss my thor 4.6 and to be fair a bonny one of those has got to be far less trouble than a cheap L322.

Arghh miss the old girl so much! Time for a Vogue this time though (more **** to go wrong)

Yeah I think I've settled back to what I know. Keeping an eye out for a late spec 4.6 in blue with a light interior, no gas and reasonable milage. Something I can keep nice that should retain its money. I cant stretch to a nice L322 as a second (third really) vehicle, so a smart P38 has got to be the way to go. Just need to find a home for my 530i touring now although I don't think it'll be difficult!

I'm going to put my 2000 model P38 Vogue on eBay / auto trader soon, I have upgraded to an L322. The p38 is a 4.6 (LPG) and I have done everything on it even if it didn't need changing. I put in a Turner Engineering ductile iron top hat lined engine 15,000 miles ago which cost me £4500 with the labour. It comes with LR dog guard, LR 7 seat conversion in the boot area, Apple Carplay head unit, DVD screens in the rear headrests blah blah..... New suspension bushes, airbags, pump, discs, tyres etc.... Just need a dry weekend to hoover it out, wash and wax it and then photograph it to put it on sale....

I guess it sounded funny to you in your head before you actually typed it in to the web page.
My opinion of you has now been downgraded.
The point of this forum is to be helpful, why would you criticise a vehicle that you haven't seen or have any knowledge of.
I like land rovers of all shapes, sizes and budgets and would always try to be helpful to others, not knock their hard earned purchases.
Your opinion of L322 Range Rovers is clear from your input, I wonder why you would bother to take the time to comment if you have such a low opinion of them.
Please continue to enjoy your P38 as I did, they are a great car, I certainly won't be making and negative inputs about them.
Have a nice day.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and yes it did seem funny to me before, during and after typing. As you well know, this forum is helpful, sarcastic and full of p*ss taking so I am very supprised at your defensive attitude. I don't see why your opinion of me has been "downgraded", I've always tried to be helpful, I'm very sarcastic and I do take the p*ss at every opportunity so what's changed? Anyway, I do hope you enjoy your new purchase and have many years trouble free ownership.Kindest regards Alan

Hi mate thanks for the heads up, not a fan of gas to be honest or the other electrical gubbins in the head rests. I'd rather have one as nature intended with no modifications but good luck with the sale!

Well... Turn up for the books, rather sooner than I expected my 530i Touring has gone this afternoon to a new owner! Crazy turn of events but a friend of mine that knew I was selling the touring and decided it was just what he wanted. I wasnt even sure I was selling it but there we go!

Since when did a harmless bit of banter become a bad thing on this site? I think that is a small price to pay for the level of support and expert advice people receive.
I have an L322 and I would say that most are endearing and lovable pieces of ****e, so there:p

Morning HC, p38 owners have had many years to develope a thick skin, the older L322's get the same will happen to their owners. :D

Morning Alan, I'm lucky as I was already thick when I bought mine, I'm sure some people must think this is a technical forum rather than counselling in it's many forms.
Cheerfulness in the face of adversity brothers ! :)
