My Ultra4 Build

Hi all just want to share some pics of my Ultra4 build. Being built for the Ultra4 Europe series, in the Unlimited class.

I have based the vehicle on a discovery for some reason! But it's starting to take shape now and will be ready in a matter of months to race this year!

here's the disco as I bought it:


After cutting off the rear body:



Going off to the fab shop for a full frame / cage to new Ultra4 USA spec:

Coming back from the fab shop a few months later (there was a big and unfortunate delay putting us behind schedule):



Managed to rent part of a larger work shop for the truck to be built so taken there for the axles to be removed (wheel base being extended and Nissan Patrol Y61 trusses axles fitted):



Axles arrived from Ireland...



Hydro steer system arrived from Utah:

Progress made over christmas by a friend helping with the build (engine is now complete):

Loads of electrical rubbish removed from the disco:


Special delivery from the one and only King Shocks this week:



Lots more to come this week too - fuel cell, fuel pump, race clutch and lots more bits and pieces.

Been a little while but we've been as busy as we can! Check out the latest progress:
New AP Race clutch and new system:

Transfer case out to be replaced with rebuilt 1.6 Ratio (want that acceleration with those 40" tyres!

Looks good eh got the back axle on this weekend

Now the brackets on the rear end are all sorted out it was time to give the back Patrol Y61 axle some TLC with new brakes and some paint. Also got the interior coated in truck bed liner. Looks great! 6 weeks left until the deadline where we need to test!!! If anyone here is interested in lending a hand as support/pit crew that would be amazing and a great opportunity to start getting into this amazing sport. First race is in France just outside Paris.

Build is gathering speed now. We have some big issues with the front axle setup but nothing sheer determination and ££££ cant solve!
