I have asked for further details on the locking mech but having thought about it you could simply undo the door hinges from the bulkhead and the door would open from the hinge side.
They also cost a fair bit for some powder coated box section and a sliding bolt but then again in terms of preventing having your motor nicked it is not extortionate.
A decent set of tree sliders is not much cheaper.

No you couldn't as its a flat bar.... there is no hinge to open the door even if you remove the hinge if you know what I mean. Yes open at one side but you couldn't open it.... Its not like taking hinges off and just pulling door away from the lock..
See previous posts from me but all this is useless with a cordless angle grinder which everyone is using now.

But 90% of the thieves out there won't be going equipt with an angle grinder and those that do would be making on hell of a racket outside my house so I might notice.
 
I've got them fitted to my vehicle ..my thoughts....my Land Rover has a layers approach with security ..I got these last year my vehicle is an older one personally if it was newer I would not have fitted them.
The locks are ok and work well but need regular lubricant as they are open to the elements .this is mainly the pax side as I don't remove it all the time with just me in the vehicle ..clearly sat still it's fine.
The lock works well and I managed to get a good close fit .
The powder coating I found to be a little week second rate ..the inside is not coated with anything and open to rusting I coated mine with wax oil inside which has done the job.
Apart from that they do the job..and adds to my layers .yes as with all security you can do stuff to thwart it but angle grinders and taking door off all take time which the nasty Land Rover stealing man doesn't like ..
So for an older veh. It works for me.
Fitting was fine ..I marked drilled and fitted without a problem used mastic behind the bar when fitting to help seal agains t water ingress in the bolt holes which has worked well .
Also handy to stand on for the roof rack.

Ooks like a good idea....

I went for a walk yesterday. Upon my return i found passengers door look panned in beyond operable.

Didnt look like they had been in though which was odd........the door was still locked, just the barrel was mangled. Worlds ****test thief perhaps ?
 
I was thinking of grinding off hinge bolt holes then realised if they want in they cut windscreen seal so gave up

Best make the vehicle as ugly as possible

Ripped seats, **** paint, etc
 
Cheers Terry. I wanted some first hand feed back which you have given. Waxolyling the inside is a good idea.
