I dont know if you can see this, but its a video of an elderly man being rescued from floods in West Yorkshire.

And he was in a Defender, not a car

How did he get there? I see the 90 roof and thought there was gonna be another motor drive into shot. I'd be ****ed if I would sit there waiting to be rescued

Water levels can rise very rapidly when rivers burst their banks or breach defenses. He may have been driving through not much more than a puddle

There's also the problem of once the water is high enough if you stop moving forwards and lose the bow wave you'll lose the engine. You don't have the option of changing your mind.

I think we should all doff our caps in respect of the emergency services that go into this sort of ****e.
There is not a cat in hells chance of me doing what they do day after day!
On a lighter note its nice to that LR have sorted out the electrics on the 90's....the wipers are doing stirling service on that car!!

I don't have any details, it just appeared on my Facebook. I thought it was worth sharing as a warning to anyone intending to go and play

Clearly you need to fully immerse them for full functionality. Echoing what all's been said, good on the services for doing what they do. Hope the feller gets well.

Just been on TV that video, with the added info the driver is 70 and the landrover had been washed off the main Street by the water!!
