Hard to say. Seems to be a piece of sheeting on the front of it, as if they are trying to protect it from weather. And a bit hard to understand why someone would go to the trouble of stealing it just to chuck it in a hedge. It may have been helpful if the chap who posted it was a bit more specific about location. Cornwall is quite a big place. Wonder if he looked for, and recorded, a number off the chassis?

Probably won't have a number being galv

Looking at the tub I would age it between 1980 and 1982 .....number plate on left and positioning of tail lights.
Of course things can be changed over the years. Definitely something odd going on.

All that I know that have fitted them stamp up the original number on the chassis. Saves awkward questions if you get pulled!
Any developments on this?
While you are at it, good idea to stamp the number in other places as well that may be overlooked by a thief. Especially if you can stamp it somewhere that would be hard to get an angle grinder to it. You need not stamp another VIN number either... stamp in another shorter number that only you will know such as your initials, date of birth etc.
