Hi There,

Just a quick question to all you other Land Rover lovers, i have got a Land Rover Freelander XEi and bloody hell it doesn't half get warm in the car, I drove up to scotland and needed to keep the windows open as it got that hot, the weather was utter ****e as well, it rained a fair bit, the Cold Air Fan blowing into the car doesn't really seem to be that cold unless the air conditioning is on...with that on it's freezing, lol. I dont really want to have to keep my Air Con on all the time, at the same time i really dont want to have the windows open all the time, anyone got any tips or advice? Thanks

I open the rear window that seems to let fresh air in without draughts


To Be honest opening a different window wasn't really the constructive answer i was looking for, i was hoping to hear from someone saying that such and such an inlet may be blocked etc etc so on and so forth
 
I'd try opening the rear tailgate window if I was you. Creates a nice extra bit of draught ;)

Actually, my Freelander never seems to get that hot. Even taking into account this summer's been rubbish I have only had the air con on once or twice a week at most...

I don't think you have anything wrong, especially if your aircon is working fine. I find that if i switch of the aircon the cabin soon warms up again. But i don't find this any different to any other car.

As others have said, put the back window down and open the windows if you don't want the aircon on.
 
check yer pollen filter int blocked un that its inlet is not clogged wiff leaves un fings, un also check that yer heater isolator is shuttin orft. . .:)
 
I've just purchased a freelander V6 auto 02 and have noticed it's very warm inside the car all the time (not a bad thing as I live in the Highlands) however the worrying thing is the funny smell, I'd describe as burning spicy smell but a friend says it's more like a burning
oil smell. Any advice welcomed :)
 
if it is coolant its best to get it fixed before winter otherwise you'll be driving as if yer in fog all the time.. the coolant mist will get blown up yer heater ducts and then condense on the inside of yer windscreen even after you've wiped it you will still have an oily residue on yer screen which makes seeing out a tad difficult..

you could be driving along quite happily then when you go to over take thats when it will happen as the increase in engine revs causes an increase in cooling system pressure and more coolant escapes into the heater ducts.

course all this is assuming yer HG int gave up by then
 
Thanks for the speedy response, posted same question on another site on saturday and still haven't heard anything! That's exactley how i'd describe the smell, spicy sweet smell, it's driving me mad! what should I be looking for:confused:

Do a search for oil and filter change. If you're going to do it yourself a few times, top tip (originally from Ming methinks) is to drill a hole in the undertray directly under the oil drain plug, so you don't have to take the damn thing off everytime. Haven't had to do an oil change yet, but that's the first thing I'm gonna do to the undertray while the oil is draining
 
Why not put a clamp on both heater pipes under bonnet,( but use something that will not damage pipes) then drive it and see if it gets too warm in cab , if it,s cooler then the hot/cold valve aint working.

good idea sparky , mole grips un wrap a cloth round pipe so as not ta damage it. . . . .yup that will tell yer :) :) :)
