Thought I'd wire brush the chassis yesterday and give it a coat of waxoil as the weather was quiet nice yesterday, completed the drivers side without any drama, then came the passenger side which to be honest looked slightly worse

Anyway long story short , hiding under an nice lump of dirt was a nice little hole so the chassis isn't quite as good as I thought annoyingly

So has anyone had welding done by Infield? any idea on prices?

Thanks in advance
Phil

can you not weld it your self ,i just did mine i used a 3mm thick plate ,its now stronger than ever, took it for a mot and the guy was well happy with the repair

Not got the equipment or knowledge sadly else I would I phoned em anyway and they reckon about 2 hours work at £40 per hour plus vat so not all that bad I think.

i would def take them up on that for that price mate, only prob is once they start the repair the hole will prob get much bigger till they find solid steel and they may once they start find more areas, hopefully they will only sort the holes that they have been told to not any others unless instructed to else the 40 pounds may keep going up

please keep us up to-date with pics of the welded area

Yes will do cant grumble at the price and will do hopefully going to book it in after pay day this month. I've given it a coating of waxoil for the time being to stop any more crap entering the chassis but will soon scrubb off

Wow, my prices just went up! If they are just sticking a patch over that for that money. I would have charged £30 as that it no way more than an hour. If they cut out and repair flush to surrounding metal then about 2 hrs is fair

I'd be getting yourself over to Adey steel in Loughborough and then buying a welder off ebay and teaching yourself cos as said the holes always get bigger by the time you get to decent steel.

Ask me how I know :(

Once you've invested in a welder you've got one for ever
