P38A sluggish for first few miles, sport mode no light?

my p38 auto2.5d seems to take a few miles to warm up, very slow to change gears and low on power, is this normal?
also sport mode button, does it even work on a diesel p38 auto? mine seems not to and no light change beside button, any ideas?
god I love this motor, only thing with more faults than the wife! lol

Best to check the level from cold. Check RAVE for procedure.

It'll never be great with a stone cold engine but checking the quantity and quality of your gearbox oil is a good start.
An old gearbox filter won't help either.

Is it not just a diesel?
