Can you be a little more accurate with your description please?
Are we talking sealed beam, or bulb type of light?

i dont really know! lol. got no access to a defender so cant look for myself.

story is: local scrotes keep stealing the facelift discovery lights. i intend to maake some up with a piece of chequer plate and mount defender lights on it for hi/low beam, side light and indicator. as in the ebay items below.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-LAND...HT-HEADLAMP-/361239693761?hash=item541b9049c1
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STC5013-L...-TD-200-TDi-/110825252519?hash=item19cdb326a7
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMR6514-L...-Side-Light-/291293011073?hash=item43d26a9c81

then create something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDX-Headl...-lights-Discovery-2-Td5-to-2001-/361040969759

obviously the one above is made of plastic and will also get stolen so if i create my own along the same lines but with alu plate it will be un stealable i recon. i have a way to mount them in mind so they cant b just pulled out. it will hinder me when i change bulbs but so be it.

obviously i want to keep costs to a minimum as theres other stuff this car need too.

cheers

My 2003 defender has the headlight and the main beam in the round headlight which is what I think your asking.
Hope that helps!
